Hey Little Zippy, My point is there is a reason why the rich want a flat tax. LOL Because they would make a lot of money. I do not think a flat tax is liked by Forbes because it's good for Americans....I think it's because it would be good for Rich Americans like himself. It shows that Tax crybabies, are selfish, and in for themselves.

Holy mackerel! An intelligent response without cursing or personal attacks! Thank you! Now, to rebut...

Yes, I agree that many of the "Rich" would indeed benefit greatly from a flat tax but then they are paying the vast majority of the tax revenue right now because they make so much money. Would you like to see the Tax "Loopholes" closed that they are so fond of? Flat Tax. Would you like to see the IRS disappear into a black hole? Flat Tax. Would you like to see a law that treats all Americans the same (a.k.a. "Fairly")? Flat Tax. Would you like to see many of the lowest income families pay less or nothing at all? Flat Tax (all the Flat Tax plans proposed exclude the first x-number of dollars from being taxed).

The issue is not "Greedy Rich Angry White Males", it's what's fair, simple and best for America. Soaking the Rich is not good for America. Supporting evidence : Tax Cuts, Economic Growth, and Tax Revenue. Treating one class of citizen differently from another is not good for America. Rich people contribute far more to this great economy than Poor people. I never got a paycheck from a poor person. As hard as it may be to accept, poor people are most often poor because they are ignorant (cured by good, basic education), lazy (incurable if there is no consequence. Can you say "Welfare"?) or otherwise "defective" (for lack of a better word). Crack Heads will always be losers. We can't fix everything but we can do immeasurable harm trying to.

The definition of a Libertarian: A selfish Right Winger who only wants to pay taxes for things they personally use, and screw everyone else!!!!!!!

Way off on this one. Check out the The Libertarian Party web site (take the test!) to educate yourself on this political philosophy. I tend toward their thinking on many issues (drugs, taxes...) and am very opposed to some of them (abortion for one, Murder is Murder, Period).

Specifically, I am looking at the message above written by world famous Zippy the Wonder Slug to David. Zippy has been posting articles and educational information on this forum for over a year now. I would like to take this opportunity to say a BIG "thank you" to you all for giving us your valuable time.

Shame on them. The Repbublicans want women to not go to see a obygn doctor, and a lot of operations would have to be performed in a doctors office, not in a hospital. Boy, Im glad Im a Democrat, not a selfish Republicans. The Republicans are for the insurance companies. not us 161 million patients. Like I always said the Republicans are for the rich people while the Democrats are for everyone. If you want any medicare or any help when you are sick later on in life, for heavens sake forget everything and vote for the party who helped beat Hitler and gave us Social Security, Child labor laws and most everything we take for granted today. The monolithic barbarians are the rich Republicans. Vote for the Democrats, even Hillary Clinton. She is a Democrat.

Did you know in Canada, prescription prices are price controlled. A study by the House Government Reform and Oversight Comittee found that senior citizens in the United States paid 81 Percent more than Canadiens for the 10 most popular prescription drugs. Here in America prescription prices are going thru the roof. And its not because of research but because of expensive advertising campaigns and paying off Republicans for lobbying costs.

Message: Message: Ladies, women -- If you had a husband who had a lady "flavor of the week" with no mention of ever using condoms, would you sleep with him? Clinton made a big issue of NOT REVEALING HIS MEDICAL RECORDS/HISTORY, as did all the other presidential candidates. When he took the THRONE of the WH, he got rid of the WH m.d. because, how dare him, he wouldn't give the pres. an allergy shot without reviewing his medical history. This has been and will always be a secret. WHY DOESN'T PRES. CLINTON WANT US TO SEE HIS MEDICAL HISTORY? Well, it probably shows a record of sexual disease, most probably treated with antibiotics. Remember for years he has practices indiscriminate sex in the back seat of cars, hotels, when Hillary was away or asleep and now he has passed along his own version of NON-SEX a/k/a ORAL SEX to young teens who have now taken it as a quickie pleasure during school hours on school grounds. ANY WOMAN WHO WOULD STAY WITH A MAN WHO HAS CHEATED ON HER OVER AND OVER IS A LOSER WITHOUT SELF RESPECT. Hillary is afraid to go out in the real world on her own. SHE HAS NO MONEY AND DEPENDS ON TAXPAYERS' LARGESSE TO FUND HERS AND CHELSEA'S vacations. If Hillary left the pres. she would not be able to get FREE RENT, FOOD, INSURANCE, A DRIVER AND CAR TO TAKE HER WHEREVER AND WHENEVER SHE CHOOSES, FREE USE OF ONE OF TWO AIR FORCE JETS (at a cost of $8,723 per hour to taxpayers, but if it is deemed (seldom) personal, she only pays the going rate for tourist class travel or instead of over ($17,000 it costs the taxpayers to fly her to NY from Wash. for her $500 hairdos, she would pay less than $300. Hillary has mastered the art of soaking the public. She rarely has to pay for anything. If she is traveling and she admires something, it is given to her. She is a leech and a sponge, a thief and a harlot. STOP THE MADNESS. DO NOT VOTE HILLARY TO RUIN NY AS she and BILLL HAVE RUINED ARK. Remember, when Bill and Hillary, that dynamic duo who fight tirelessly for public education took office in ARK. it was 49th in the country for education, when they left, they had dragged it to 50th. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT FOR NY? Also, anyone who has travelled to ARK. is amazed to see that all the water in rivers and lakes is BROWN, the roads are the WORST in the Country, many people still have outhouses and medical/dental care is horrendous. You are lucky if you have one of two teeth in your mouth to help you gum your food. NYers WAKE UP! If you are not careful, NY could be a third-world state like Arkansas. If they couldn't solve the problems of Ark., how do they think they can take on the world and a huge complex state like NY. Send Hillary and her Carpetbag back to Ark.

Message: An important historical fact is being completely ignored in the national debate on health care reform: for most of this century the U.S. government has owned and operated the largest health care system in the nation, the Veterans Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. With 171 hospitals, 362 outpatient clinics, 128 nursing homes, a $16-billion 1994 budget, and 266,000 employees, the VHA is socialized medicine writ large.

Although the VHA has produced many worthwhile results, thousands of patients wait for medical attention for hours every day, hundreds of millions of dollars are paid out in medical malpractice claims, and billions of dollars go for annual taxpayer subsidies. Furthermore, 90 percent of eligible veterans choose private alternatives over VHA health care and the massive bureaucracy running it.

The history of the VHA provides cautionary and distressing lessons about how government subsidizes, dictates, and rations health care when it controls a national medical monopoly. The record of the VHA also reveals what happens when politicians attempt to micromanage a health care system to meet the demands of well-organized consumer groups. The major question raised by the VHA experience is why anyone seriously advocating improved health care for all Americans would support government control and regulation of medicine.

Message: Sharon Hampton, 1969-1996

Sharon Hampton's uterus was punctured during an abortion performed by Dr. Bruce Steir, but that did not stop Steir from sending Sharon home so he could catch a plane. Steir caught his plane, but Sharon, 27, never made it home - she died on the way, bleeding to death in her mother's car.

The abortion was performed by Steir at A Lady's Choice Women's Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Calif., on Dec. 13, 1996. At the time of Sharon's death, Steir was on probation with the state medical board. In fact, Steir had been on probation since 1988 when the Navy discovered that Steir was practicing medicine outside the naval medical facility where he worked. This was not the only complaint levied against Steir. In 1991 he was accused of negligence after puncturing another woman's uterus. A number of complaints were filed against Steir in the following years and the state even tried to revoke his medical license. In 1995, the state filed a formal complaint alleging incompetence involving six abortions. Three of the women had to have hysterectomies after the abortions Steir performed. One woman had to undergo surgery to remove a fetal skull that tore through her uterus. Steir was allowed to continue practicing medicine until he stood trial for these allegations in April 1997. However, after Sharon's death, the state attorney general's office sought a temporary restraining order to bar Steir from practicing. The court ruled that Steir could no longer perform surgeries and he voluntarily gave up his medical license in March 1997.

Abortion-choice advocates unabashedly defended Steir. "He's a wonderful doctor. He's been performing abortion services for women since Roe v. Wade and providing services for us for 20 years," said Shauna H

PAGLIA: No, absolutely not! She has no talent whatever for that! The media, you'd think, would have learned their lesson because of the Clinton debacle, but they went right ahead in a big stampede and promoted Hillary Clinton, way beyond her abilities. She has no ability to be a senator. She has no ability to work on a team. Basically, she is a coterie-type personality. What she would be ideal for is what she is doing now-which is to go out into the world and to be a spokeswoman for highly educated Western career women and to fight for women's and children's rights or as an ambassador-at-large for the UN. That's her appropriate role. I want to fall on the floor laughing--imagining Hillary Clinton working well in the Senate with everybody else! Oh, give me a break! I've already joked in print that they would need to build her a private cloakroom on the Mall. This is not a woman who has any ability to deal with the mass of humanity. She is the most arrogant, the most moralistic, the most sermonizing and annoying person on the earth--and it is just a joke that the media have allowed this to go on as long as it has.

So how does one become rich and famous if not by working hard and smart. Oh, there is the felony way as so many of the Clinton's friends and business partners have tried (but not Hillary "Cattle futures" Rodham). But the illegal way has very negative consequences. Message:
So, now French women can use this pill privately to abort?
No! Following is the schedule that must be followed today in France if a woman wishes to abort using RU-486: She must have a pregnancy test and have the preborn child dated.
She must undergo a pelvic exam, a blood test, and an ultrasound exam using an intravaginal probe.
After a one-week waiting period, she takes three RU-486 tablets registered under her name and leaves the clinic.
36 to 48 hours later she receives an injection of a synthetic prostaglandin and stays in the clinic for about four hours for monitoring.
She returns to the clinic seven days later to ensure that the abortion is complete and to have her bleeding monitored.
If the pill has failed, she must have a surgical abortion.
According to some medical reports, the pill fails approximately five percent of the time. Others put the failure rate at ten percent or more.

How liberals respond to a "doctor" with a history of butchering and even KILLING women. Guess it depends upon what the meaning of the word "doctor" is.

Nathanson, M.D., has commented, regarding the administration of RU-486 plus a prostaglandin backup: "These new drugs are a frightening throwback to barbarism and an ominous harbinger of the deterioration of the health of women and children worldwide. They represent perhaps the greatest threat yet to life, liberty and the family in this generation."

In a letter dated April 12, 1990, a group of French health professionals warned of the hazards that RU-486, in combination with the use of other chemicals, posed to women who use it.
Dr. Raymond Godefroid, R.Ph., wrote, "Menstrual periods that last an average of 12 days, hemorrhage severe enough to require blood transfusion, and pain in 10% of the patients severe enough to require administration of parenteral narcotics should not be given the 'safe' label...The fact that premeditated pregnancy termination [abortion] is an unnatural and traumatic event, no matter what the modus operandi, makes this antiprogesterone steroid just another abortifacient..."[10

Message: THE FRENCH, THEY ARE DIFFERENT. AND SHOULD NOT BE USED AS ROLE MODELS So lo and behold: Hillary Clinton thinks we should emulate the French way of raising our kids. In her book, It Takes a Village, and in an op-ed she wrote for the New York Times in 1990, Mrs. Clinton sings the praises of the French child-care system. Whether she still holds these views is impossible to tell, as she has been stripping herself of her husband's positions the way her husband might strip off his pants at the intern pool.

But assuming she does, here is what she thinks. The French are great because they spend a billion-zillion francs (which should be about $38.95 but is actually quite a bit of schmundo) on day care for their children. Now she's too smart to say we should do precisely what the French do. "France is a country far smaller and more homogeneous than ours."

This is an important point because the French are surely quite Francophillic in the way they raise their oui-ones (Get it? Get it?). The French taught children in their colonies in Africa that they were the descendants of the Gauls. The French start really early with the "France is great" stuff. Look at the fights we have today over such things as school prayer and high-school curricula. Would you want the Clintons and the Children's Defense Fund being the people in charge of imprinting values on your three-year-olds? It cuts both ways; imagine the howling from the Left if conservatives ran the show. "Yes, Billy that's an American flag, you should love it and honor it."

That's fascism according to the Dershowitz crowd.

So Hillary heads off that pesky "values" issue which would likely come up. Instead, she says "What I do believe, however, is that the French have found a way of expressing their love and concern through policies that focus on children's needs during the earliest stages of life." Well, that's awfully sweet. Government as an instrument of love! You see, this isn't an issue of politics, it's an issue about children and our love for them. Cue the Disney butterflies and snuggly little bunnies!

If the Right would just lay down their guns and accept a huge government-run and government-valued child-care system, our children would prosper -- even the children of right wingers (as surely we would educate them out of their intolerance).

"How can you transcend your political differences and come to an agreement on the issue of government-subsidized child care?" Hillary asked of her French hosts when she was over there. "One after another of them looked at me in astonishment. 'How can you not invest in children and expect to have a healthy country?' was the reply I heard over and over again."

Ohhhhhhhhhh… The French were astonished. The French were astonished. Well, no wonder Hillary is convinced.

First of all, when did we get to stipulate that France was so healthy? How do we define health? Mental health? No, that can't be it -- Jerry Lewis, and all that. Physical health? Okay, so they have the slightest of edges on us in life expectancy.

But that can't be the answer. She must be talking about political health. Because in a mature, politically healthy society, people don't question the role of government. It's like the role of fire and toilets and shredders at the Rose Law Firm -- they're just there and should be used as often as necessary or possible.

Let's also not forget that the French practice what the demographers call pro-natalist policies. In other words, the French need to encourage people to make more babies, because European birth rates are in the tank and, unlike in the U.S., we don't mind (as much) maintaining our population through immigration. Anti-immigrant feelings are just one of the enlightened reasons the government makes parenthood as painless as possible.

"astonishment" has less to do with the fact that their policies are better as much as it has to do with the fact that the French can't stand Americans. The French are also astonished by the fact that Americans: bathe every day, don't know diddly about the U.N., don't want the government to raise their kids, don't think of France as an equal great power, don't think it's a sign of national greatness to subsidize the bulk of Africa's corrupt bureaucrats, think it's an odd idea to spend tax dollars on a film industry dedicated to the notion that chance encounters in used-book stores make for great drama, and think that their national leaders shouldn't be canoodling the help while they impose sexual-harassment laws on the rest of us.

Our idea of political health is to keep politics out of as many spheres of human life as possible. "Consensus" on children's issues, like with so many other things in today's political arguments, means simply "capitulation" to the mature politics people like Hillary Clinton admire.

When told of the fact that Whitney Houston would be singing at the upcoming AllStar WNBA game, he responded with surprise that "KD Lang" or "Melissa Etheridge" wasn't going to sing instead....self-proclaimed lesbians, for those who don't already know.

People, this is what it boils down to. If you listen, you'll hear men degrading women's sports by claiming that, as WALL STREETER did on this forum, that women's sports bring the "Sapphic" types out to watch in droves. When you can't stop a woman from living her life as an athlete, or stop people or the govt from funding women sports, or convince 90,000 people not to attend the women's soccer world cup games, just throw the word "lesbian" around a lot. Works everytime, right guys? At least it makes you feel better.

The IMAN is also a CONSERVATIVE, just like RUSH and his ilk. So, just take note of how vocal representatives of this group voice their opinions regarding women. I think you'll see we have so many men on this forum that are out to bash Hillary. And although they will argue otherwise, all you have to do is take Hillary's advice and "listen" to the rhetoric.

Shame on you and all the pilots that dropped the bombs on these unsuspecting people.

I must take issue with this. The pilots were simply doing what they were trained for. Had they refused they'd have been locked up and/or shot. Blaming the pilots is like blaming guns for the violence. Blame the corrupt, evil, power hungry "leaders" that coldly decided these people should die. Our men and women in uniform are merely a tool of the corrupt. That is why it is so important to have leaders we can trust! Can we trust Hillary? Ask Bill...

If you want to blame a corrupt leader, why don't you blame Molosovich for ordering years of oppression and murder through ethnic cleansing of a peoples, instead of the leaders of the United States of America who tried to stop it in basically the only way feasible. If you had a better solution, maybe you should have voiced it before it was too late.

YOu can sing and dance that this was a means for Bill Clinton to have a "legacy" to leave, but what President wants a legacy riddled with bullets and bombs and the blood of an entire people, especially when his legacy was already so beaten and abused by his own wrongdoings? Surely he knew the opposition he would encounter, a country divided by what seemed like another Vietnam....but if our govt hadn't acted now, it would have had to later, and by then how many Kosovo people would be left for us to save????

Message: DID BRA-ZEN BRANDI SCORE FOR NIKE?
By Gersh Kuntzman

The sports world was abuzz last night with the talk that one of the greatest moments in women's sports history was just a marketing ploy.

"Intentional or not, it was one of the smartest moves an athlete has made since Michael Jordan first signed with Nike," said Marc Ganis, president of the Chicago-based marketing agency, Sportscorp.

He was, of course, refering to women's World Cup heroine Brandi Chastain's dramatic, nationally televised removal of her jersey to reveal her chiseled phusique - and a new Mike sports bra.

Others in the business are also convinced that Chastain - who stands to make millions in endorsements thanks to her buff bod and her spirited attitude - knew what she was doing in the moment after she scored the winning goal in Team U.S.A.'s World Cup victory over China on Saturday.

"They can deny it all they want, but has she done that before?" asked Ryan Schinman, executive vice president of CNB Capital, a marketing agency in New York.

"And she does it at the exact moment when the entire world is watching?"

Male soccer players have been known to take off their shirts after game-winning goals. They also exchange jerseys with their opponents after championship games.

Schinman said the exposure will be worth millions in sales for Mike's new bra, while Ganis said Chastain would reap the biggest reward.

"She has elevated her visability," he said. "She'd be a great spokeswoman. You can play xylophone on her midsection, but you wouldn't have known it if she hadn't taken off her shirt."

For the second day, Chastain denied she had marketing in mind when she flashed Nike's new Inner Actives sports bra before the largest crowd ever gathered for a women's sporting event and a huge worldwide TV audience.

"There was no intent to show it off," said Chastain, surrounded by media after a Nike-sponsored pep rally in Midtown yesterday.

"I didn't even know which bra I as wearing."

Chastain, who helped Nike design the Inner Actives bra, said she was merely overwhelmed by a rush of excitement after scoring the deciding goal.

"We all felt the pressure of how important it was for us to win for the future of soccer in America," Chastain said. "So taking off the shirt was unconsciously throwing off that burden."

Mike officials also denied that they had cooked up something in advance with Chastain - but admitted that the sports-apparel giant will use footage of Chastain's exuberance in an ad campaign.

Isn't it funny that men like RYAN SCHINMAN still have such a difficult time accepting the concept of a woman as an athlete that they will feel compelled to sit back and plot and hatch theories that make the athletes look conniving and greedy???? Men like SCHINMAN can't get past the flash of flesh they saw on their tv screen and now must focus on it and analzye it and pick at it until they find some ulterior motive for an act that was very liberating for all women within the context of the moment.

Message: THEY PLAYED WELL - AND THEY PLAYED US FOR SUCKERS
By Andrea Peyser

It should surprise no one, and disappoint everyone, that the victorious women of the U.S. soccer team are proving as graceless and greedy as pro athletes can be.

But, really - couldn't the soccer babes have waited at least until they were off the playing field to cash in?

Mext time, perhaps someone should install an ATM in the middle of the World Cup stadium, and save us a whole lot of time and cheering.

It may be unfair to expect female athletes to serve as role models for all girls, everwhere, while the guys are allowed - even expected - to behave like pillaging scoundrels in uniform.

But this team went out of its way to encourage favorable comparisons to saints and virgins. Comparisons that we gobbled up and swallowed down like hero-starved carnivores.

"It's a very pure team we have," player Shannon MacMillan told The Post's Lyle Spencer a day before the pivotal game.

Well, the Mother Teresas of soccer they ain't.

They cheat.

There is no other way to describe goaltender Briana Scurry, who admitted she took a few steps forward before her Chinese opponent took a penalty kick - a move that is expressly forbidden in the rule book.

Even so, Scurry explained he game-saving liberty in positively Clintonian terms:

"Everybody does it," Scurry declared. "It's only cheating if you get caught."

Hmm.

They pander.

Here, again, is MacMillan's take on her team's spirit:

"We do this because we have such a passion for the game...This definitely makes up for the [lack of] money."

Fine sentiment. But then, faster than you can whine, "Do you know who I am?" we are treated to the sight of the soccer chicks - the instant the game finishes, the team still on the field - answering the age-old question:

"You've just won the World Cup. What are you going to do now?"

Answer: "We're foing to Disneyland!"

A nice, pure, spontaneous cash eruption.

Now, it is suspected, the soccer girls may be calculating.

As few lingerie-lovers will forget, a millisecond after scoring the game-winning penalty kick, Brandi Chastain tossed off her jersey in what was billed as a kind of joyous striptease.

Now. cynics are speculating that Chastain, and Nike, may have envisioned dollar signs in sports-bra sales from this puzzling stunt.

Chastain denies any planning afore-strip. But that won't stop Nike from turning Chastain into the hottest underwire pitch girl since Pamela Anderson.

Perhaps we've held our female athletes to a standard that's too high. just because a woman can run, jump, kick or strip with excellence, it doesn't stand to reason that she is, by definition, a suitable role model for all girls, everywhere.

No one would deny these girls a paycheck.

But when the thirst for cash prompts distasteful displays and a lowering in standards of sportsmanship, you get the message that love of the game is a secondary to winning.

At this stage of the game, women who excel in sports realize that playing the role model is but a necessary nuisance on the road to the real goal: getting rich.

This is one area in which there exists true equality among women and men.

Excuse me, did I MISS something? Was there a brawl on the soccer field? Did Brianna Scurry suckerpunch another player?? WAs the USA team coach cursing out the ref?? HAve any of these women been arrested for assault or rape off the field? HAve they been kicked off the team at any time due to bad drug test results?? Come again?? "No one would deny these girls a paycheck." It's just going to be a little less than their male counterparts. Hey girls, what's a little loose change?? "But when the thirst for cash prompts distasteful displays...." Poor Andrea didn't like the display of flesh. Why don't we go run to the beaches now QUICK and tell every little girl there to turn her eyes away from that demonic spectacle of a woman in a bathing suit! ANDREA thinks they are bad role models. Andrea thinks women in America should be wearing long dresses and covering their heads in public! How sinful to show flesh on the soccer field or a beach or anywhere! WOMEN ARE EVIL!!!!!! "....getting rich. This is one area in which there exists true equality among women and men." Andrea obviously knows nothing of the gender pay gap that still pays women 25 cents to the dollar. People are doing the same thing to Hillary Clinton in a way. Turning over every rock, looking for an ulterior motive. Hillary is not going to live in NY if she doesn't win, Hillary doesn't care about NY only what it can get here, Hillary is just going to "cash in" on the senate seat as a ticket to the presidency. When women are public figures who hold any power over us, whether it be in the sports arena or behind the political podium, what makes us so quick to try to tear them down? By the way, WALL, glad I could provide you with a mission.

Second, I don't condone cheating, but we can't penalize the whole team for Scurry's scurrilous misdeeds. I would hardly call the taking off a shirt a striptease, nor do I believe that money is the ultimate goal (pardon the pun) for these women. ANY time someone else makes money, we all want to question it anyway, when what people are really rearing is a jealous head and saying "Why not me?"

I suppose with men it could be insulting for women to start encroaching on their financial territory by "cashing in" with endorsements, ads, and the like, but women tennis athletes have been doing it long before now.

What's new about a female athlete "cashing in" and why all the fuss when they do? As for "Enya" and her comment....I think she should understand that we live in a country where people should have the right to choose what they want to be and how they want to live their life. SHE may not want to play sports, but should what she wants stop another girl from playing? As for Hillary playing, I really can't see this. She seems more inclined to intellectual pursuits, and did not even attend the game last Sat.

Message: Hillary's "run for the Senate" is just another CLINTON SCHEME. You see campaign rules do not allow her to return campaign funds or give them to another candidate. If Hillary collects $20 million in campaign funds, and she decides to stop listening and NOT RUN, HILLARY WILL GET TO KEEP THE CAMPAIGN MONEY. Hillary's campaign is just another get-rich quick CLINTON SCHEME. Here are a few other ways where they have richened themselves that other regular Americans cannot use or would not be devious enough to use. 1. WJC had two homeowner policies/renter's policies, etc. one with Chubb Insurance while he was Gov. of Ark. When he committed the acts against Paula Jones in Ark. and she filed suit, his insurance company paid up to his cap of $1 million on his umbrella policy to pay for his legal defense against Paula J. and also money towards the settlement she was awarded. The other policy he had was with State Farm which he picked up when he moved to D.C. They also contributed to the max of $1 million resulting from James Carville's remarks that went "If you drag a dollar through a trailer park ...." Since that offense was committed while he was in Wash. that entitled him to money from the State Farm policy which once again contributed to his legal defense and settlement towards Paula Jones. In effect, Clinton, to this time has not spent one nickel of his own money towards his defense in the Paula Jones case. The Clintons' friends then formed a Legal Defense Fund which took contributions (some deemed illegal which had to be returned) to help them pay his legal expenses in the P.J. Case. This is something that normal Americans would not be able to take advantage of. The Legal Defense Fund continues to collect money toward the several million in legal bills that still exist. 2. The Clintons have used the largess of the American taxpayers, particularly Hillary and Chelsea for extended, extravagant vacations under the guise of women and children's issues. Each year Mrs. Clinton has taken Chelsea away for two-week jaunts during her spring vacations which cost the taxpayers a bundle. This last trip to Egypt and Morocco which hosted 50 aides, press, etc. cost the taxpayers between $6 and 9 million. Repeated requests to the White House have failed to produce exact amounts. In addition, everytime Mrs. Clinton picks up an object or admires it, it is GIVEN TO HER. I doubt that all the jewelry and art work she has been given will be catalogued for the museum. 3. Mrs. Clinton (with a projected future income of $140,000 and a great many expenses involved in commuting back and forth, maintaining two residences, etc.) is looking at homes in Westchester County, N.Y. at reported costs of $4 million dollars. The real estate taxes alone on a house that expensive would take ALL of her income. There is word out that friends of the Clinton's might buy them the house. If someone gives you or I a house, we have to pay gift taxes on it. 4. If a home is purchased for the Clinton's and Mrs. Clinton wins the Senate race, will this CAUSE CONFLICT OF INTEREST? Mrs. Clinton would have to recuse herself from any matters on the Senate floor which involve businesses or interests from any of the donors. So, why is she running? She will have very little to do and will have plenty of time to make appointments for her $500 designer hairdos. 5. Pull up the Clinton's IRS return on the internet and figure out if you could buy a house for even $100,000 in their financial situation.

4. Hillary single handedly won the 1998 elections for the Democrats. Had she divorced Bill, badmouthed him, had a nervous breakdown, or just hid in the background the Democrats would not have enjoyed their outstanding success.

5. Hillary raised a child who went to Stanford.

Marty, Chelsea Clinton is not an elected official of the United States in any form or fashion. She is a young woman attempting to grow up and meet the challenges of young adulthood. Most young adults who are in their early years of college change their aspirations. Some do so a number of times. This is not abnormal, but is rather evidence that Chelsea Clinton is a young adult trying to formulate a plan for spending the rest of her life happily.

Chelsea Clinton could probably do so in a much more normal manner if busybody, ill-wishers like yourself would pay attention to your own life and leave her to the privacy that you would want for your own child or yourself. Look, I have no desire to discuss this issue (again). I would much rather just Outlaw All Forms of Murder and force my will on you by Law. But...

You say I will never have to choose whether to murder someone. Bullshit. Every time someone makes me angry I can choose to Murder them or I can choose not to. I can never choose to murder someone in my womb simply because I do not have one. The problem with your argument is that you do not view the child as a person. I do.

Try this (how many time must I do this?):

Now, where did you first say "No"? Can you explain Why? If you can, PLEASE post your explanation! I'd love to hear it!

If the definition of a "Person" is a legal one then the answer to all the questions is No. If it's a Moral one the the answer to all the questions is Yes. If it's a Biological one then the answer to all the questions is still Yes. Once the New DNA sequence is established "It" is a unique individual never before seen on Earth. Period. If you define the beginning of "Life" at some point in the middle you better look up "Life" again. Perhaps Websters will do:

Main Entry: 1life
Pronunciation: 'lIf
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural lives /'lIvz/
Etymology: Middle English lif, from Old English lIf; akin to Old English libban to live
Date: before 12th century
1 a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body b : a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings -- compare VITALISM 1 c : an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction.

Abortion always ends a life.

It was once Legal to Own Human Beings. It was wrong then, it's wrong now. All that changed was the law. Once it was Illegal to Murder Anyone. Now it's Legal to Murder some people. I, for one, do not like the trend.

My Grandfather chose not to murder my Grandmother a few years ago when she got Alzheimer's and became one notch above a vegetable. She was miserable. He was miserable. They were quickly being bankrupted. But he chose not to. Why? Because he loved her! Because he, a life long Navy man, who had killed in War, could not bring himself to needlessly take a life. Thank God, with some medication changes and an incredible amount of love and patience she is much better now. I admire the courage and love it took to stick with her and help her. It nearly killed him. But, in his eyes, he had no other choice. I wish more people were like him, the world would be a better place...

I did this Marty and given my own financial situation and what I have done with it I can clearly see how Mrs. Clinton could easily afford a house priced at $1 to $2 million. That is just based on what I see on their tax returns. Keep in mind that IRS returns have NOTHING whatsoever to do with what the Clintons may or may not own as collateral nor their credit payment history. Many people keep harping on how Mrs. Clinton is not an elected official. This is true, but as such she has no obligation to reveal much of anything to you or anyone else in the public eye. The various scandals that have surrounded her name have already given us good public information that Mrs. Clinton is pretty good with a buck. I fail to see how you find her incapable of affording the $3.8 million house.

I must admit, the house is a bit big and pricey for what I would want for myself even if I were rich, but you must remember that Mrs. Clinton is making a bid for a very visible public office and as such will need a house that will fit the lifestyle this will necessitate including a lot of entertaining. If she doesn't win the race, selling a house that was once owned by the Former President of the United States and/or his wife will not be hard to unload, most likely at a substantial profit. The purchase of a house in New York that will require a serious financial commitment on her part is just one more feather in her cap however, toward a victory.

You have to look at the big picture, not just one small portion of it.

Fair Question!

And I am so glad you brought this up! Let's take the absolute worst case and say that Reagan was indeed lying (though there was never any solid, prosecutable proof of this). What was he lying (not under oath) about? Matters of National Security. We were trying to help "the good guys" in ways that were, at least, in the grey area of the law. He should never have allowed us to get involved in such covert operations but then I have a feeling he was privy to information we will likely never hear. Such operations have been going on for most of this century and continue today. I don't approve of such things but I do understand the motivation. Reagan must have been convinced that such things were necessary to make the world safer from the ravages of Communism. Misguided? Perhaps. Selfish? Petty? Evil? No chance.

Now, what was Clinton lying about? Adulterous Blow Jobs from a Girl his Daughter's Age! Patheic, Selfish, Childish, Perverted, Immature Stupidity having Absolutely Nothing to do with Doing His Job. (Not to mention the Federal Sexual Harassment Laws he was breaking.) I just don't see any comparison...

My grandmother had Alzheimer's, and my family has always felt painful remorse at not ending her life sooner. Why? Because we loved her.

One should not attempt to classify death by other than natural causes as murder. You can't put death in a nice, neat box and say it isn't acceptable in any case. Why? Self-defense. Death penalty. Rape resulting in pregnancy. Euthenasia. Manslaughter.

I have the right to kill you if you try to kill me. If I wantonly kill someone, I deserve to die in the electric chair. If a man rapes me and I become pregnant, I deserve to have the right to choose abortion. If I'm in constant pain confined to a hospital bed with a life that is no life at all, I should have the right to ask someone to end my misery for me. If your kid skateboards out in front of my car, his/her death was an accident but not murder.

My pt. is most people who are anti-abortionists take an absolutionist stance and repeat the mantra "Murder is Murder!" but I say murder just isn't that simple when there are people involved and circumstances to consider. Women don't have abortions because it's a fun way to spend an afternoon.

I have been 'round the table debating abortion before and it's an issue on which people have such strong, visceral emotions about that debate changes little. I just wanted to share an opposing perspective. Thanks!

CLINTON MOCKS BUSH'S 'COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATIVE' SLOGAN

President Clinton made fun of George W. Bush on Wednesday in a speech to the Democratic Leadership Council in Baltimore.

"I shouldn't do this because it's not presidential, but I'm going to do it anyway," Clinton said before offering a tongue-in-cheek critique of the Texas governor's signature slogan, "compassionate conservatism."

"It sure has a great ring to it," Clinton said, "and near as I can tell, here's what it means."

"I like you. I do," Clinton intoned with an air of mock seriousness.

"And I would like to be for the patient's bill of rights. And I'd like to be for closing the gun show loophole. And I'd like not to squander the surplus and, you know, save Social Security and Medicare for the next generation. I'd like to raise the minimum wage. I'd like to do these things, but I just can't. And I feel terrible about it."

Bush, told of Clinton's comments, said:

"It's amazing that the president of the United States would spend time talking about me, even before I get my party's nomination... I'm so honored."

You have believed the propaganda and hype that has been coming down the pike for years. Not every "feminist" is a "lesbian," but some are. Unfortunately, those who don't wish to see women make strides equated the two terms to debunk feminist organizations and stave off progress.

Some hetero women hear the word "lesbian" and quickly disassociate themselves, while some men use the term "lesbian" to silence the feminist "opposition."

So what you have left are the feminist lesbians who have nothing to lose. Unlike hetero-fems, lesbians face this kind of verbal castigation and the stigma of labels on a daily basis. Does it not stand to reason that those with the least to lose will be the most vocal? Does it refute logic that those with the least to lose will be necessary to front an organization?

LISTEN (pardon the pun, Hillary!): I was mainly referring to days of yore. Women have made great strides, and there are a lot of men who are now self-proclaimed feminists, recognizing the need for a harmonious relationship between the sexes. But there are still some people like this poster who continue to bounce this insidious nexus of "feminist=lesbian" around like a near-deflated beach ball.

Whoever said these women athletes are feminists, anyway??

A man is expected to be mature when he fathers a child; he is expected to endure inconvenience and hardship, if necessary, to provide the means to bring a child up and go through college, even if this requires taking an extra job or working late at night. He is expected to do this because he is supposedly mature.

But the woman, according to feminists, is so selfish, immature, irrational and hysterical that she cannot stand the fact of nine months of inconvenience in order to bring life to another person or to bring happiness, perhaps, to some other family who might adopt the child.

And who decides if the family the child is placed with will help this child to a life of happiness or a life of abuse and misery? Who would give me a guarantee that my child would be properly cared for if allowed to live or subjected to such misery and abuse that it would not only be better off dead or wish it were so? THIS is the fear of mother's who opt to end the life of the child they do not feel capable of raising rather than placing it for adoption. There are no guarantees and regardless of whether the child is reared by the birth mother or not, there is a certain amount of responsibility that one always feels for such a child. Not everyone is capable of handling the emotional burden nor gamble of such an arrangement. I know I could not. I have worked Child Protective Services and have seen first hand that rich people abuse their kids too and money is a major determining factor in determining if parents are eligible to adopt. There are others as well, but money is the main one barring severe criminal history, obvious severe mental illness or extremely contagious illness.

A nony mouse, why don't you visit a hospital in Kosovo and share your opinion with a young woman who was recently raped by one of those "mature" members of the opposite sex you just spent time praising?

Tell her she's "selfish," "immature," "irrational," and "hysterical" if she even considered for one second that her body was her own or thought she had a right not to suffer the lifelong consequences of brutal violation.

You'll have to do it yourself, because you're not going to find a feminist who will.

"I deplore the horrible crime of child murder ... No matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed ...but oh! Thrice guilty is he who drove her to the desperation which impelled her to the crime."

The fact that restricting access to abortion has tragic side effects does not, in itself, show that the restrictions are unjustified, since murder is wrong regardless of the consequences of prohibiting it; and the appeal to the right to control one's body, which is generally construed as a property right, is at best a rather feeble argument for the permissibility of abortion. Mere ownership does not give me the right to kill innocent people whom I find on my property, and indeed I am apt to be held responsible if such people injure themselves while on my property. It is equally unclear that I have any moral right to expel an innocent person from my property when I know that doing so will result in his death

Dawn, Firstly I want to thank you for responding in a thoughtful and civil manner. We need more like you in that respect.

First, the research. From Websters:
Main Entry: 1mur·der
Pronunciation: 'm&r-d&r
Function: noun
Etymology: partly from Middle English murther, from Old English morthor; partly from Middle English murdre, from Old French, of Germanic origin; akin to Old English morthor; akin to Old High German mord murder, Latin mort-, mors death, mori to die, mortuus dead, Greek brotos mortal
Date: before 12th century
1 : the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought
2 a : something very difficult or dangerous b : something outrageous or blameworthy

Main Entry: ho·mi·cide
Pronunciation: 'hä-m&-"sId, 'hO-
Function: noun
Etymology: in sense 1, from Middle English, from Middle French, from Latin homicida, from homo human being + -cida -cide; in sense 2, from Middle English, from Middle French, from Latin homicidium, from homo + -cidium -cide Date: 14th century
1 : a person who kills another
2 : a killing of one human being by another

So, I stand corrected. I will try to be more accurate. Before Roe v Wade Murder was Murder. Now that the State has sanctioned it we must change the phrase to Homicide is Homicide.

A woman (and her partner!) may accidentally create a life (even though they should have known better!) but the act of Abortion is a premeditated act that purposely ends a life. Homicide Sanctioned By The State. Sound Like Germany in the Thirties Yet? How about Yugoslavia in the Nineties? Legalized Homicide of Jews, Kosovars or Children. It's all the same once you accept that a child is a child from the moment it begins to grow.

There is no wiggle room here (so long as we use the English Language faithfully).

As for our Grandparents, Suicide is not Murder but, had you done any more than provide the necessary tools for a suicide, then it would indeed have been Murder. The courts side with me on this one (for now). I strongly believe a person does indeed have the right to end their own life when they want to and their family (or closest friends if there is no loving relative) should have the right to provide the tools for suicide. The State may have a right to be informed as to avert false accusations of Murder but they should never have the right to interfear. I also believe a person has the right to respond to an attempt on their life with lethal force (it tends to discourage such attempts). But Abortion never gets any where near these definitions.

Message: July 13, 1999 -- NEW YORK POST -- COMMENTARY HILLARY STILL DOESN'T LIVE HERE By DICK MORRIS

THE more we see of Hillary's possible Senate candidacy, the more it assumes a tawdry quality. It seems to be predicated on one fabrication piled upon another. For example, having never resided here, she's busily raising money for a possible race but still doesn't live here. One would think that she'd quickly settle on a residence to increase her identification with her hastily adopted state. It's one thing to be a carpetbagger. It's another not even to unpack. Hillary apparently believes she can live out of her carpetbag for many more months yet.

Hillary obviously doesn't like New York enough to live here. She'll only move here if we agree to send her to Washington.

We mustn't underestimate the sticker shock the Clintons feel in their first experience in paying for their own housing since 1982. Even their vacations have been mooched off newfound friends eager to bask part-time in their spotlight.

Press reports suggest that Hillary has sent her closest White House aide Capricia Marshall out in search of possible homes in Westchester County. House-hunting does not appear on her Executive Branch job description, but Hillary is maintaining the fiction that she's doing it on her own time. Apparently, Hillary has balked at the real-estate prices Capricia has reported back. If the media are accurate, she's been looking for homes in the $3 million range. This high price tag has encouraged the Clintons to explore renting, instead of owning. One wonders if she'll rent by the hour.

The fact that they are looking to rent makes Hillary's link to New York state even more tenuous. Who in their right minds believes she will still live here if she is not elected to the Senate?

Ever anxious to get a bargain or a free-bie, the Clintons are said to have suggested that their aides find some property owner who will be delighted to rent to the Clintons at a cut rate. The inducement would be that the cachet that Hillary and Bill slept here would helpraise the market price of the home in the future.

She wants us to believe that she is a New Yorker who would have moved here even if Moynihan had not left the Senate. Where once she supported an independent Palestinian state, she now wants Israel to locate its capital in Jerusalem. How much more obviously could she pander to New York's Jewish vote?

Through aides, she now implies that she opposed the welfare-reform bill her husband signed, a piece of revisionist history which would have made the Kremlin proud. I was there. She told me, "Our liberal friends are just going to have to understand that we have to sign this bill."

She even wants us to buy that she has always rooted for the Yankees! Or is it the Mets? She bends and strains to justify using the White House staff for her campaign, claiming that they are working after they give their 40 hours a week to the taxpayer.

The real tragedy is that Hillary, whose policy priorities are in the right place and who might well be a very good senator from a state with which she has some connection, has created a situation that's awkward at best and demeaning at worst. She is starting her public career with the most obvious of deceptions trying to flummox the voters of the most hard-bitten, realistic, and cynical state in the nation. She is squirming and twisting to persuade us to elect her from a state she doesn't know, doesn't care about, and doesn't want to live in.

Even given the awkwardness of the situation, she is making it worse by the way she goes about it. On the one hand, she raises money hand over fist. On the other hand, she constantly - and piously - reminds us that she might not run, always using the word "if" to describe her candidacy while she brazenly asks for millions. She utters not a word about what will happen to the money if she re-packs her bags and moves elsewhere.

Hillary's aides say she plans to be in New York so often between now and the election that we will forget that she wasn't always here. We will come to accept her as part of the surroundings without questioning how she came to be here. Her propinquity will, she hopes, dull our senses and cause us to forget that she hasn't always been in our midst. How dumb does she think we are?

The polls indicate that Hillary will lose. Surveys of likely voters give Giuliani a 5 to 7 point lead. The widely touted Quinnipiac Poll showing her two points ahead is based on registered voters, 40 percent of whom won't vote.

Hillary's national favorability rating has dropped from 65 to 50 in the Fox News/Opinion Dynamics polls since she began floating her candidacy for the Senate. She is in a classic Catch-22 situation: To run from New York, she needs to go to every little event here that she can. But as she does so, she sacrifices her stature, dignity, and grandeur. She looks more like a politician every day - and her popularity drops.

In the final analysis, she's not going to get into a race where she starts almost 10 points behind. That's why her house-hunting has slowed down. This eminently sensible woman is not going to risk a promising political career on a losing race. Her conditionality in addressing her possible candidacy, always emphasizing that she hasn't "made up her mind" is the dead giveaway. She's going to take the money ... and not run.

The post's Eric Fettman may have started something with his attack yesterday on "Hillary's puffball press" - the lapdogs at other newspapers who are treating the First Lady like some kind of saint instead of asking what the hell she's doing trying to get elected to the Senate from New York.

Now Westchester radio baron William O'Shaughnessy has taken up the cudgels. "Effective immediately, Whitney Radio will no longer cover any staged events arranged by the so-called Hillary Rodham Clinton senatorial exploratory committee," he declares.

"This charade of a 'listening tour,' with its motorcades and flying squads of Secret Service agents, really does nothing to inform the electorate," he adds. "In recent weeks, our colleagues in the public press have begun to resemble a bunch of damn ducks - hoping for a morsel from the First Lady or her considerable entourage."

O'Shaughnessy says his radio stations "are no longer to serve as props for Clinton's Evita-like campaign, which is starting to look like a prelude to a coronation in which her cult-like celebrity is allowed to overwhelm or obscure the necessity for reasonable and robust discussion of the great issues confronting the people of New York state."

What disturbs me most is the irony of the issue: pro-choice women who want the right to choose how they control their own bodies are in constant debate with anti-abortion women (and men) who want to control pro-choice women by eliminating their right to choose. One cannot escape the fact that the main crux of any abortion debate is inevitably control. One cannot, as Mary Anne Warren and others would have you believe, deny that control is the bottom line of abortion.

Of course, some will see control; some will see murder...and the debate will rage on. At least in accordance with my contention, you would be granted an opportunity to choose an abortion if necessary; unfortunately, your philosophy would not allow you to reciprocate to me this same liberty and freedom.

I must say that posting on this list can be a very lonely affair sometimes. As abortions are performed daily in the US, obviously someone else concurs that women should have the right to choose. I wouldn't know this if I simply used this forum as an accurate measuring stick.

I don't spend all my time "listening only" to Hillary. Don't you think you're carrying this theme a tad far? I had formulated an opinion on abortion before I had evcn heard of Hillary Clinton. Of course, I wholeheartedly support the First Lady's stance on this extremely heated issue.

Duh, that must hurt! But what kind of choice are you talking about?

It reminds me of this guy who had a serious crush on this bimbo. She'd already had three abortions before Roe v Wade! All caused by the same guy. One day he had his chance. He knew that he could and he should but he didn't have a 'skin' so he didn't. So much for a woman choice.

(I really liked her...)

So, I gather from this statement (and others) that you would be in favor of the legalization of all drugs. The issue is identical; control over what I choose to do with my body. Am I mistaken? Please elaborate if I've missed the mark...

While there is really not much wrong with the legalization of some drugs in my humble opinion, the control issue with regard to a pregnancy is a different one. When I was pregnant, I wanted to take care of my body for the child I was choosing to bring to fruition because I wanted that child to have the best possible chance at having a good life when he could no longer depend on my healthy body for support. I wanted him to have the same healthy body. I wanted him to have a healthy body so he could have as unencumbered of a life as possible. I wanted to have a life that he was free to enjoy, rather than a life that entailed taking care of his unhealthy body. This is the most important thing to any good mother. In the same vein, a child which I would not be raising might get saddled with parents that would cause him to have to spend his adult life getting over what his parents did to him as a child. This is not a place I personally could go. Maybe some can, but not me. It may have to do with control on one level, but it is about reality on another level. One in 4 girls is sexually abused before reaching adulthood and one in 7 boys. Raising a child is not an easy job. Raising one right is an even harder job. The odds in today's world are, sadly, against it. A child's life is a really lousy thing to gamble with in this cruel world. How do I know that the powers that be in this universe did not give the people wanting my child a child because HE KNEW that they weren't fit parents? Do you know why there is so much infertility in today's world? Because people choose to live their good, healthy years unencumbered by the bother and struggles of children and then want to have them when they have everything all lined up nice and perfect. Well, the human body doesn't work that way. The human body has children at a certain time because that is when people have the energy and flexibility to raise a child. True, teenage pregnancy is an arguement against this, but I have seen many a teenager, with the guidance of the parents that are in their lives at this time do a good job raising a baby. This is not true in all cases, but old people also bring certain handicaps to a child to raise that the child has to overcome. A woman's body does it's best job of creating a child in her 20's and early 30's. There would not be so much need for adoption if there were not so many 40 year old women who didn't have time to have a child when their body wanted to.

I totally concur that both Bill and Hillary should just GO AWAY before they do any further damage to this country. I would like to add that every act of corruption that Bill was involved in, Hillary was behind it and in most instances, the mastermind and driving force i.e. Filegate, Travelgate, Gennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinksy/VRWC, illegal campaign contributions, etc. Congratulations on your baby. Keep reading him/her Bill Bennett and you can't go wrong. I wish I would have thought of that. However, I have taught my 4 and 9 year old that being president does not automatically make you honest and/or worthy of respect. As most Americans know by now, Clinton does not even come close. Ps: If you are a resident of New York, you may be please to know that many of us Texans will be sending money to Rudy. Ms. Rodham Clinton should not be ANYWHERE near our American political system. She is extremely devious and very dangerous. NEW YORK LIBERALS, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MAY JUST GET IT!!! For a man of stature your approach is provocative of ill will. I'm surprised and am wondering why? The only conclusion I can come to is that you are an old man who cannot shed obsolete political systems. You still hope to instil fear into us with the bogey man philosophy you call "Leninist"

According to the Times of London, a conservative publication owned by Rupert Murdoch, this Forum is "Ground Zero" for the "New Left".

We heartily agree with that description, and welcome you to the Forum where, in due course, you will experience an "awakening." You will understand and appreciate the new world in which we modern liberals live and think. It is so very far away from Lenin.

You are dating yourself. Nevertheless we would love to have you come back and debate with us. You sound intelligent but stuck in the Jurassic Era. We'll energize your mind with fresh ideas and lively discussions.

What the consequences of drug use versus the consequence of abortion? How many more murders are committed in this country alone based on drug use versus the "murders" that you call abortions? How many women who have had an abortion go on to murder a person outside of the womb? How many crimes other than murder (eg., rape, child abuse, assault, robbery, arson, etc.) are committed while a drug user is high versus crimes that are committed by a woman strictly and solelybecause she has had an abortion? How many more jail cells are we going to have to create and how much more money are we going to have to spend each year because people are committing crimes while high on drugs versus the annual cost of performed abortions? How m
