Message: A run for the Senate by Hillary Clinton will amount to a six month media sideshow. The only factors in her favor are:

- Bobby Kennedy successfully won a Senate seat as an outsider. - New Yorkers love to be the center of national attention.

It also goes without saying that Mayor Giuliani will contribute additional efforts targeted to compromise her chances.

In fact, the only thing Giuliani really needs to fear is if Hillary were to select the editor of this site to run her campaign.

Message: I would be embarrassed to be a Republican. It is so obvious that the Republicans in the House are OWNED by the NRA. They are weakpolitical whores who do not have enough integrity to force the NRA to allow them to vote a 3-day background check. What could possibly be wrong with a 3-day background check? There's nothing wrong with guns per se until they are in the hands of the wrong people. Why would any responsible person not want even MORE than a three-day background check? Isn't there even ONE honorable, responsible representative in the House?

Oh, yes, if anyone is interested I'm STILL SELLING waivers to the Brady law. The going price is for assault-style weapons is still a $100,000 contribution to the DNC or better yet, to me, and you don't need be Chinese arms merchants to qualify (but given the past existing business, it helps).

Message: Smedley-Jeff, We are getting conflicting news on this forum and need clarification:

(1) Is Hillary moving into an apartment with "her operative" in New York next month, as we heard on national TV news today?

Message: They won't give us a credit card if they can't do an extensive background check, but guns, who cares, they sell or give them to anybody. The solution here is to hold the gun manufacturers, gun merchants or provider responsible for every murder with a gun. That way the gun manufacturers and merchants would soon do extensive background checks without any laws passed by our NRA-owned Congress

So here we go folks, the Republican controlled House won't do it so we'll have to do it through consumerism. The insurance companies should offer cheap insurance, like cheap airline insurance, which provides that if anyone gets shot with a gun a fully paid class action lawsuit is immediately filed against the manufacturer of the gun and all merchants who sell that particular model by the ANRA Associationn. (Anti-National Rifle Association) That'll stop 'em.

Bill and Hillary are my kind of couple. Bill knew that Juanita B. needed to feel his leather and he let her have it. That Paula Jones bitch was just a prissy conservative and passed up a sure promotion. I like the way Hillary has been "slapped down" all these years and put "in her place." The coolest thing is the way Bill's behavior is now excused. "Hear no evil, see no evil" when it comes to Bill and certainly "say no evil" from their followers. In honor of the Clinton Doctrine, I have some of my favorite slogans.

Message: You are so right! Call up Republican John Dingle. He sits on the NRA board. Ask why he and so many others of his party killed the bill.

We need more gun legislation, even if Janet Reno won't ever enforce it. More unenforced laws will stop crimes. The thugs at Columbine would never have done their evil if they'd broke two more gun laws. 19 or 20 broken laws is not enough. 2 or 3 more would do the trick.

Oh, yes, let's make gun manufacturers liable for anyone who abuses their products; beer, wine, and liquor manufacturers liable for anyone who abuses theirs; High fat food vendors, including McDonalds, KFC et al. liable for all the health related problems of too much fat. (Maybe not Mickey Ds -- I love their fries) and Al Gore says there are too many cars so we'll go after Ford on the theory that someone used their car while drinking and commiting an act of violence such as a drive-by shooting.

Only with dedicated Democrats such as yourself can we regulate out the constitution. Thanks.

Clinton gave us the best economy this world has ever known, and now he has delivered a future free of tyrants, the brightest future we have ever had.

Message: But back to that "The Sun also rises from the east" and LVD criticizing it So now we learned that because of relationship of the earth to the sun LVD was correct in critiizing it because we all know of the rotation of our planet mother earth. The time of the year does indeed have an impact in the direction of the sun to the earth rising from East North East to Due East and later on in the year to East South East. (if you live in North America, Europe,or Northern Asia). How about our compasses does that change too, the answer is no. Message: Is the new Juvenile Crime Bill what we want? Is it what we need? You decide.

The President and the press say that it is merely designed to federalize many more juvenile crimes and address the issue of gun control. BUT

It is a huge 600-page bill.
There is a massive forfeiture of private property expansion, which lets federal prosecutors do forfeitures for any state felony which will also include state-level misdemeanors.
The bill includes mandatory sentences for gun and drug crimes.
There will be massive new wiretap expansions, including intercepts on pager transmissions, which could occur without a warrant.
It will create the first warrantless electronic surveillance in U.S. history.
Federal law enforcement agencies have been pushing for the lifting of such constitutional restrictions on privacy for quite some time. Now they use this "gun control" to get it.
This bill has nothing to do with preventing incidents like that which occurred in Littleton, Colorado.

This bill is just another attempt to use tragedy to expand the power of the federal government.

Message: I dont like your question because it is an open question without being carefully thought out. Sorry try a little harder and rephrase the question. Its like saying what do you think of DEATH. Very broad and ambiqutous.

In regards to #2. Aren't you concerned that price controls will negatively impact the Pharmiceutical Industry? (Noting that price controls have never worked in the past.) The U.S. leads the world in R&D in this field. Can your Presidency afford to make such a mistake? Granted in the short run lower prices may be inviting but in the end you'll have less progress and more hardships.

First off - we have not established a "world police force" and second what would give us the right to police the world? In the last three months the Bill "weasel boy" Clinton is responsible for killing thousands of innocent noncombatant civilians - if there was a "world police force" than the United States would be under arrest!

Balkans 101 In World War II - the Albanians sided with a man spoken of often on this forum - Adolph Hitler. Death camps were built in Balkans and Albanian Nazis rounded up Serbians and placed them in these death camps. In WWII many American pilots that were shot down (fighting the Germanys and Albanian Nazis) in the Balkans were SAVED by Serbian's (the same people that Bill Clinton order to be killed). At the end of WWII and the defect of Germany and the Albanian Nazis - no comfort was given to the Serbian Christians. Russia took possession of the Balkans and put an anti-Serbian, anti-Christian communist in control of Yugoslavia (Tito - not to be confused with Michael Jacksons brother). Serbs suffered under the iron fist of Tito. When Russia crumbled the Christian Serbs finally took control of their land and decided it was Albanian payback time. The Serbs told the Albanians to "hit the road Jack and don't ya come back no more - no more". The Albanians formed a terrorist group called the KLA (the people we were recently arming) and started murdering Serb civilians so the Serbs started killing Albanians. Neither party were the good guys. The Serbs wanted the Albanians out of Kosovo - Kosovo is part of Yugoslavia. The Serb were pretty pissed about what the Albanians did in WWII - many of the Albanians in Kosovo were living on lands stolen from the Serb in WWII. Milosevic wanted the Albanian to go back to were they came from - Albanian.

Before Bill "weasel boy" Clinton started his dirty little war it was estimated that about 2,000 people had died in the conflict. After Bill "weasel boy" Clinton started his war about 200,000 people were killed - many directly from American armaments and most were civilian noncombatants. Bill "weasel boy" Clinton needed to divert attention from the Cox report that shows Clinton was instrumental in giving the Chinese ALL our nuclear secrets in return for Clinton campaign cash.

Milosevic made a few demands before Clinton started his dirty little war. Milosevic said: 1. Kosovo WILL never be an independent county - it will always be part of Yugoslavia. 2. He would not allow a NATO directed force to occupy Kosovo 3. He wanted to control the terrorist KLA. Bill "weasel boy" Clinton called Milosevic Hitler and said he must be removed and Kosovo must become a sovereign country. What do we have now - Kosovo independence is TOTALLY off the negotiating table, the forces in Kosovo are directed by the UN and NOT NATO and the United States army (funded by Americans) is controlling the KLA. Bill "weasel boy" Clinton is claiming victory yet Milosevic got EVERYTHING he wanted and Clinton failed at every objective.

The Democrat Sheeple are blindly parroting the word "victory" without knowing anything about the subject. All we have done is spent 30-60 BILLION dollars (the entire surplus and then some), killed thousands of innocent people, gave Milosevic everything he wanted. We have commented to an infinitely long military presence in the Balkans (which GREATLY benefits Milosevic because WE will control the KLA) - remember Bosnia and the troops that Bill "depends on what the meaning of is - is" Clinton promised would be home by Christmas of 1996 (they are STILL THERE!). Milosevic gets the Real victory - Clinton gets a PR victory - Everybody WINS - all we had to do is kill thousands of civilians! The Democrat party has had its soul removed by Clinton and in the next election all that will be left is an empty shell. The women's movement has been rendered hypocritical and irrelevant by Clinton. In the 1960's the Democrats fought to stop the killing of innocent people in Vietnam - today Democrat are blood-thirty hawks that cheer when their man Clinton kills thousands of innocent civilians - Democrats actually call thousands of dead civilians , killed by the action of Clinton, a great victory. Democrats - you have sold your sold to defend Bill "weasel boy" Clinton - you should be ashamed of yourselves. The blood of innocent civilians noncombatants is on your celebrating hands.

By Andrew Buncombe in Grece British and French troops stood and watched as looters pillaged and burned a Serb village yesterday, making a mockery of Nato's claim that it is providing security for both Serbs and Albanians.

Serbs in the village of Grece, 10 miles north of the Kosovo capital Pristina, had apparently been warned on Saturday night by returning Albanians that they should leave immediately. Early yesterday morningdozens of tractors and trailers arrived in the tiny village and the Albanians set about taking anything they could find.

As well as the obvious items such as televisions and washing machines, the Albanians loaded their vehicles with bricks, roof tiles, bags of cement and sacks of animal feed. The looters even ripped out door frames and doors - anything they could use to rebuild their own ravaged homes and farms. As soon as they had emptied each house of everything they wanted, they set it alight.

A group of French troops in armoured vehicles sat and watched. At one point they even helped the looters - assisting them to back out the tractors piled high with booty to allow the next ones in. When asked why they were doing nothing, the soldiers said it was not their problem: this was a British-controlled sector.

The British were no better. At the end of a track a few hundred yards from the village, soldiers - again in armoured vehicles - sat smoking cigarettes as the morning air turned acrid with smoke. Their excuse was equally poor - "We can do nothing - this is the French-controlled zone," said one. When it was pointed out that this was not true the soldiers claimed that with their "available resources" they could do little.

Yesterday evening Grece was still smouldering, pigs were running loose in the carefully tended vegetable gardens and clothes and food packets were strewn around the courtyards.

A Nato spokesman in Pristina said yesterday evening that the British commander on the ground had taken the decision not to intervene to stop the looting in order to avoid the threat to "life and limb".

Bestialisation is an unpleasant sport. The Serbs bestialised the Albanians for years. Terrorists, mafia, communists, Marxists, murderers. Officially directed at the Kosovo Liberation Army, these epithets came to be applied to the entire Kosovo Albanian community. And when General Nabojsa Pavkovic warned that "settling scores... is what we'll do if our country is attacked from the air or the ground," the Albanians knew what to expect. The moment Nato commenced its blitz against Yugoslavia, the harassment of the Kosovo Albanians turned into persecution, and the atrocities into mass murder.

But now it is we who are doing the bestialising. Nazis, Gestapo, blood-stained thugs, genocidal. The Serbs. In just a few short sound-bites, we are now bestialising a whole people. Serbs Out, Nato In, Refugees Back. That was how George Robertson - with appalling simplicity and even more awful results - summed up the west's ambitions in Kosovo earlier this month.

And sure enough, the Serbs are moving out. At least 50,000 Serb civilians - half the remaining Serb population of the province - have already fled the homes that Messrs Clinton and Blair promised to protect. Perhaps half the gypsy population of Kosovo have fled with them on their wooden carts and ponies. Serbian Kosovo is turning into Albanian Kosovo.

True, it was Serb forces - not the KLA - which dispossessed the Albanians of Kosovo. Serb forces executed the Albanian men of countless villages across the province. The KLA have committed atrocities, but not on this scale. Yet it remains a sad and devastating fact that the vast majority of war crimes - almost the entire mass dispossession and "ethnic cleansing" of Albanians - occurred after Nato had begun its war.

Had we been prepared to intervene on land at the beginning - at the cost, no doubt, of Nato soldiers' lives - countless murdered Albanians would still be alive. And had we attempted to sort out the whole Kosovo crisis when the Albanians first appealed for our help at Dayton in 1995 - when Richard Holbrooke and his chums told them to get lost - the last three months' bloodbath might never have occurred, and hundreds of thousands of dispossessed Albanians would still be in their homes.

Moral outrage is a very powerful emotion. I felt it a year ago when I saw the Serb police looting houses in the village of Comerane. I felt it a few days' later when a Serb police officer threatened to rape an Albanian woman who was travelling with me.

I felt it when The Independent's own Albanian interpreter emerged from the heart of darkness just over a week ago with a frightful story of her two months' persecution in Kosovo. I knew what to expect when British KFOR troops entered the MUP police headquarters in Pristina and found their collection of baseball bats, strapped bed, knuckledusters.

Because I have visited another identical police station with a torture basement. Indeed, I have been interrogated on the first floor, surrounded by policemen holding identical baseball bats.

And that police force was engaged in the persecution, dispossession and - with the help of that nation's armed forces - the burning of villages and the murder of their ethnic inhabitants. But readers who fear another Nato bombing campaign can relax.

This police station happened to be in a city called Diyarbakir, and the country whose police forces are involved in torture and murder is called Turkey. And Turkey is a member of Nato, supporting - albeit without enormous enthusiasm - our righteous war against Serbia.

And Turkey is not (quite) in Europe. Hence the need for our masters to say that we are discovering war crimes unknown "in Europe" since the Second World War.

But back to Kosovo, where our moral outrage is at its loudest. In our reporting of Kosovo's "liberation", there is no longer any mention of the bombing campaign that preceded it. The hundreds of Serb and Albanian civilians killed by Nato bombs have been expunged from the record.

The train at Grdelica, the two hospitals, the Chinese embassy, the bridge at Varvarin - with its beheaded priest and its female high-school student with her stomach torn out - the housing estates in Nis, Surdelica and Cuprija, and the Albanian refugee convoy destroyed in April - all must now be forgotten. The evil we now uncover makes such matters irrelevant, even if most of that evil had not yet been committed when we began our blitz against Yugoslavia.

Having witnessed much of the war - far too much of the war - I am convinced it was unnecessary; that there must have been some way of avoiding Nato's brutal bombardment and the wickedness that Serb forces unleashed against the Albanians once that bombardment began.

True, their "cleansing" of Kosovo had already started, but on an infinitely smaller scale. And Nato General Wesley Clark's assertion that the post-attack onslaught against the Albanians was "entirely predictable" still seems to be the height of cynicism.

I wonder, in the future, whether we can allow a European army to be driven by the United States. It was America, courtesy of Madeleine Albright, that pushed for this war. It was an American air force that took the leading role in bombing a European nation.

While the Albanians were being assaulted, US Defence Secretary William Cohen was referring (on 1 April) to "our gallant forces serving on the front line" - forces that were sitting on their bottoms in Albania doing nothing. And when the time came for Nato troops to move into Kosovo, what was America's role? It wanted the safest bit of the province to control, and wasted so much time arguing about its right to arrive along with the British that the Russians moved in to capture Pristina airport.

Nato unleashed a war that produced a refugee exodus on a Biblical scale. It went on to slaughter hundreds of civilians in order to return the refugees, most of whom were in their homes when the blitz began. And then it watched the exodus of half of Kosovo's other population - the Serbs - whom it was also meant to protect. And it then proclaimed a victory.

This may go down well in the United States, but I don't think Europe should suffer this kind of treatment. I don't believe that American generals should be in charge of the destruction of a European nation, however barbaric its ruler. I don't think think the European Union should tolerate any repeat performances.

Yes, we Europeans are weak. We prefer to let the Americans wield the big stick, and to fall into line behind their generals. But if we are going to control our own destinies, our future, those much trumpeted "values" that Tony Blair keeps talking about, and our defence, we've got to do it ourselves.

Which means the end of Nato and the creation of a real European defence force, one which cannot be accused of obeying American orders; a brigade, or a division, or an army which - if it really intends to protect the innocent and keep the peace - has the moral courage to go in on the ground to save life, rather than wait until the lives are lost and then punish those responsible.

There was a moment back in April, early in the bombing campaign, when Nato's lie became obvious. "Had we not acted," said President Clinton, "the Serb offensive would have been carried out with impunity."

And there we have it. Ours was a punishment campaign, not a preventive action. It was intended to avenge the Albanians, not to save them - and to revenge ourselves on the Serbs, I have no doubt, for the humiliation we suffered at their hands in Bosnia.

The Albanian refugees will now return to their "predictably" burned homes and the "predictable" mass graves of their loved ones. The Serbs will continue to flood out of the province that Nato had sworn to preserve.

And the Americans will continue to make the decisions. Europe deserves better. So do the Kosovo Albanians. So do the Serbs.

I was right in condemning Clinton for the mess he made with the war in the beginning, and the loss of lives resulting therefrom, which did not have to be had he planned it properly. I objected to the fact that he ignored Russia, and the UN, and bypassed the Security Council. I opposed this war BEFORE it started, on principle, because I am a pacifist who opposes all war except in self-defense.

I did not even know where in the heck Kosovo was and why we should fight to save a bunch of hatemongers who have been warring and killing each other for centuries. The war became an even bigger mess than before we started. The prospect of success seemed impossible.
