It's Good To Be Free
Everyone is buzzing. They are saying things like,
I think the verdict is an enormous black eye for Starr's entire investigation and puts his public rating even lower, if that's possible.
Joe Lockhart said that Clinton was pleased to learn that Susan McDougal has been
found not guilty of the charge of obstruction of justice. He wishes all the best for her and her family.
The great thing for me was not the verdict, it was more that I got my day in court, and I got to tell everything that I had been wanting to tell for years, and we got to put on evidence of the lives that Kenneth Starr has ruined.
My good friend Geraldo Rivera invited me onto his program, and I told the world that I am vowing to fight any new trial. It's more bullying and more scare tactics. I am not afraid of Ewing or any of Starr's prosecutors. I'm not afraid of him, but I will say that I am tired of going to trial all the time.
The independent counsel and his deputies abused their power and tried to intimidate witnesses.
From the beginning, we all knew he was not someone who could be independent in this investigation, and now even he finds the law under which he works is not a good one.
Kenny boy testified before Congress Wednesday, calling the law that led to all the pain and suffering to be structurally unsound, and saying it should be scrapped.
I know the Office of the Independent Counsel fought tooth and nail to keep me in solitary confinement when I requested a transfer to another facility to see a specialist after prison doctors found a lump in my breast.

I'm now going to side with the decision to send in troops. To date, Clinton has screwed everything up with a level of incompetence unmatched since LBJ directed Viet-Nam. Clinton should have either stayed out of Kosovo or he should have gone in with an entire case of "Whoop ass". Our Generals need beg for 24 helicopters. They should have started with 2400 helicopters, 2400 Warthogs, and enough troops whereby NATO should have backed the Serb Army to the Kosovo border before the NY times had time to run the story in the morning. Given that he's mishandled everything, one must ask "How do we keep the death toll to a minimun." Our present course is obviously a loser. If we retreat, then Milosevic will likely continue. The best solution at this point is a "Desert Storm" assault, so terrible, that Serb troops will pulling their tanks in reverse as fast as they can all the way into Belgrade. People will die! Because of Clinton's incompetence to date, however, there is little option. Also, the present idiot idea that NATO must save face is no justification. No, not to save face, but maybe a few lives.

MOSCOW, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - A State Duma lower house leader on Thursday dubbed as "Goebbels-like propaganda" statements by Western politicians
blaming Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic for the deaths of ethic-Albanian refugees under NATO bombs.
"Lies are increasingly becoming the weapon of the Atlantic alliance," chairman of the Duma committee for international affairs Vladimir Lukin said.
Western politicians bogged down in the Yugoslavia conflict are "awkwardly trying to cover up their international gangsterism" by lying, Lukin said.
Wednesday's NATO bombing of a column of refugees in southern Kosovo was "a heinous crime" for which the West is trying to blame Milosevic because NATO
and the U.S. are having difficulty ending the war without losing face.

I also appreciate the argument to let the primary parties take care of their own battles. My present position stems from my desire to minimize death in the long run, given WE HAVE ALREADY STEPPED IN IT. Most likely the suggestion that we should arm the KLA would not work given the likelihood that too many young male Kosovars have already been killed. Anyway, by putting the Serbs on the run, most likely they will be more compliant to hammer out a solution that doesn't involve mass graves for ethnic Albanians. You might note that a relative peace in Bosnia (and I did say relative) came about because the Serbs were on the run at the time.
History will not be as kind to Bubba as the CNN polls have been to be sure.

The question I have is - what is there to win. I am reading that most of the Albanians are already out of Kosovo (that was Milosevic's goal - I think he has already won). Clinton wants to send the Albanians back - I do not support offering up my son to catch bullets so a relatively small number of Albanians can live is a different neighborhood. This in not the holocaust - Milosevic is not systematically killing a race of people - he is throwing then out of the neighborhood. Right now most of the vast majority of the people dying are innocent civilians being killed by Clinton and NATO's bombs. This is obscene - and what is worse is the spin job the media and the White House is doing - the majority of people are supporting ground troops! Think about it - Americans fighting and dying so Albanians can live is a different neighborhood. PONDEROUS!
NOTE - a ground war in Kosovo will be nothing like the Gulf War. The Gulf War was fought in a bloody desert where there are not even trees to hide behind - it was like playing the game Battleship while being able to see both sides of the table (and we still took casualties). Kosovo is very difficult terran - more like Vietnam than Kuwait. All this from a president and vice president that have "re-invented" government by cuts of which nearly 90% came from the Department of Defense. The next president is going to have to pick up the pieces (or is that peaces) - I hope GW is up to the task.
How are we to justify the was - Serbs are raping Albanians. Heck, our president has been accused of rape and many just assume the women was lying. Are they assuming the Albanian women are lying also (they have the motive - if they lie about rape the Americans may take up their fight for them). Many have tried to say rape in not all that bad - Clinton was just an "excitable boy" (pardon me Warren). Why is unconfirmed rape an atrocity in Kosovo but no big deal when Clinton is the accused. BISTRAZIN, Yugoslavia, April 15 (AFP) - Carbonised, burnt or dismembered bodies,
smashed tractors and trailers: the bombing of refugees on the move in Kosovo
by NATO planes offered an apocalyptic vision Thursday.
Yugoslav authorities said Thursday that 75 people were killed and 26 were
injured in the bombing in western Kosovo Wednesday of two convoys by NATO
planes.
One convoy was hit shortly after 2 p.m. (1200 GMT) Wednesday on the Terzinski
Most bridge on the River Eranik, near Bistrazin, some 12 kilometres
(seven miles) south of Djakovica on the road to Prizren, witnesses said.
Belgrade said the convoy was being escorted by police forces bringing refugees
back to their homes in the area.
Some of the vehicles and tractors which
were already on the bridge escaped the bombing. But those only 50 meters
(yards) from it were destroyed.
On Thursday, almost 24 hours after the incident, an AFP reporter saw 13 bodies
in the area. The bodies of three girls, two women and a man were lined up on
blankets.
Close by, six burnt bodies could be seen. Some 20 meters (yards) away, a head
and an arm lay on the ground.
One of the tractors was totally burnt, as was the person driving it. Around
100 refugees were still hiding in nearby forests. But some of them estimated
that around 20 persons were on the burnt trailer it was pulling.
A police vehicle, almost totally demolished, could still be seen on the road.
According to Serb authorities, two policemen who were in the car were injured.
"I saw planes releasing bombs. I have never seen them flying so low," Agim
Silaj, 32, from Djakovica, said.
He estimated that the refugee convoy consisted of some 5,000 people. His
13-member family survived -- although, he said, the convoy was targetted three
times.
When the first bomb fell, they were some 200 meters (yards) from the bridge.
"We did not understand what was happening, we speeded up, and two more bombs
hit the convoy. Some of those who survived fled towards Bistrazin. But there
we heard the third explosion," he said.
"The planes were rotating as they were following us. They flew from the
direction of Djakovica towards the Albanian border," he said.
An AFP reporter went to the scene Thursday with no police or military escort,
together with two Greek television crews and a Los Angeles Times journalist.
In Bistrazin, no bomb craters were obvious, but debris covered the ground.
Fragments of bombs could be seen, including a piece of green metal some 40
centimeters long with a propellor at the end.
Fragments of similar devices have been seen at other sites bombed by NATO, in
the Kosovo capital Pristina and the eastern town of Gnjilane.
Some three kilometres (1.5 miles) from Bistrazin, towards Prizren, the body
of a man lay close to a crater some 1.5 meters (yards) deep and five meters
(yards) wide.
A burnt vehicle and two abandoned tractors, still bearing the personal
belongings of refugees, could be seen nearby.
In the hospital in Prizren, reporters saw 16 injured. All confirmed they had
heard planes and three or four explosions. There were no military vehicles
around, they said.
"Our guys are not crazy to fly their planes when there are NATO F-16s in the
sky," a hospital officer, Colonel Kiril Cvetinov, said.
Ismet Syla, from the village of Molic, said he had been driving a tractor and
trailer with 25 people on it.
"Three of them were killed and 11 were injured. We heard and saw the planes.
We jumped off our tractors, but the others did not have time to do so,"
he said.
In the village of Meha, more to the northwest, near the border with Albania,
another refugee convoy was bombed shortly after 1:00 p.m. (1100 GMT) Wednesday.
After being alerted by a local radio in Djakovica, the Serb Information Center
in Pristina informed the journalists, among them an AFP reporter, who went to
the scene.
Arriving at the scene some two hours after the bombing, we saw a burnt body

A body of a woman was decapitated, while that of a girl had no legs. Another
woman was still breathing, but she died shortly afterwards.
An AFP reporter was present while an investigating magistrate, Milovan
Momcilovic, counted 20 dead and four injured people. Fragments of bombs and
missiles were lying on the ground.
A young Albanian boy, Muharem Alija, said that after the first raid,
he had hidden with several people in a nearby house.
"I heard the planes and I saw the bombs falling from the sky. There were many
explosions," he said.
"One missile fell on the house, the roof fell down. I was unhurt because
I was the closest to the door. My father was injured, but other people died,"
he said.
Shortly afterwards, six bodies were pulled out from the ruins.
The roof of the house was smashed and the rest of the building largely
wrecked, as was a nearby barn, and smoke could still be seen.
Two nearby houses along the road were also destroyed. A bit further on, a
crater could be seen.

Speaking of Golf Course - Weasel Boy has been known to play golf at Frederick's "other" golf course. If you believe Jim Spaulding's poem - Barabara hung her Union flag out and Stonewall Jackson ordered the flag shot (and they did) - Barbara stuck her head out and said "Shoot me, an old gray dame, if you really must but please find it in your heart to spare your country's flag". Well Stonewall was sore ashamed and hung his head and said "Whoever touches so much as a hair of her gray head...... dies like a dog!". In reality there are many that think the situation was a myth (Barbara was a real person). There is no record of any sort in the writings connected with the Army of the South. The poem was used later in the war to rally northerners to the cause. A few years after Barbara's death the people of Frederick planed a Barbara Fritchie memorial that was very similar to the Washington monument except it was not to be as tall but it was going to have a rectangle building in it's base. Questions about the legality of a U.S. role in the Balkans arise from the Constitution's division of war powers between the legislative and executive branches. To protect the principle that government should reflect the will of the people, our Founders stipulated that only Congress would have authority to declare war, while only the president as commander in chief would be empowered to deploy and lead the military in defense of the national interest.
The president is on solid legal ground for the military steps he has taken. But he is open to criticism of his policies in the Balkans and for making U.S. interests potentially dependent on German troops and Russian diplomacy. The question now is whether new legislative authorization is called for if military involvement is extended, especially if ground troops are deployed.
The administration's motivations may be high-minded -- to avert further ethnic cleansing -- but it is fallacious to talk of doing "whatever it takes" when no clear picture is given of what that, or its consequences, might be. This country's traditional adherence to a just war doctrine requires that intervention be proportional and not counterproductive.
If military intervention has the effect of deepening Serbian resolve, consolidating murderous leadership, escalating rather than quelling violence in Kosovo and expanding conflict in and outside the region, the case for its continuation on any grounds except a desire for a prideful exit is dubious.
For this war to be prosecuted further, constitutionality demands Congress take a definitive stand, and morality requires judgments be based on more than good intentions.

Jane used to do comic characters as well as play and sing (she played piano). We taped all her characters (Marge Batagilia, the goumand junk food star from Sacramento), Bonga Tong (Chinese reporter) Anita Bryant (no explanation needed)
and several other hysterical gals so she wouldn't have to stop the show to change costume a million times.
I think L&TS were the first punk(ish--had lots more sex appeal than most punkers) band to use video this way. We did b&W in 1974-5, then switched to color...half inch portable color, then 3/4 inch...those were the days.
Equipment was VERY heavy and we had to tie the TVs and monitors to the ceilings so the punkers couldn't spit or pi** or vomit on them.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama has taken the first step toward repealing the nation's only remaining state constitutional ban on interracial marriages. The state House voted without dissent Thursday to repeal the ban, which is no longer enforced. If three-fifths of the Senate also approve, the legislation would go to the voters. The sponsor, Rep. Alvin Holmes, said repealing the amendment to the 1901 constitution would boost the state's image. ``Just to have it on the books doesn't make the state look good,'' he said. Alabama's is the only state constitution that still prohibits interracial marriages. South Carolina removed its provision in February.
