Message: First I want to commend you for handling this situation with Monica excellently. You always conducted yourself as a strong woman, never speaking on the subject and not allowing it to destroy you. I know its was a difficult situation and my heart goes out to you and your daughter. Also it must be mentioned that the only fool in this picture is Monica. She knew what she was doing and for her to think for one minute that Mr. Clinton would leave you, his wife an intelligent, strong, powerful and secure woman for a loose, insecure, gullible GIRL was STUPID. Monica got what she deserve, nothing. She destroyed her reputation, caused her family such misery and to put her mother through all that was so sad. Now getting to more important issues.

I hope that you run for Senate. I think Mr. Guliani has done a decent job as a Mayor. However, I am very unhappy how he handle the Amadou Diallo situation. These four police officer are still allowed to work after they KILLED an inoncent victim. When a few years ago in Howard Beach the neighbor had the Holloween Parade and one of the float was the dragging of a black man. Mr. Guliani was quick to fire the Fireman. The Fireman was absolutely wrong for participating in the parade, however, he did not KILL anyone and he was FIRED. These four police officer shot and KILLED Mr. Diallo an inocent human being and they are walking free in the streets and working. Mr. Guliani should have fired them immediately just like he fired the fireman. Because of the way Mr. Guliani is handling this situation I now have doubts about the way he operates.

Please do not allow this man (Mr. Guliani) to be our Senator. We need someone who is strong, powerful, intelligent, and that person is you. YES, YES, YES, Mrs. Clinton for Senate and in the future Mrs. Clinton for President. Thank You, May God Bless You and Your Daughter. From SLGS

Message: Hopefully this does reach Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Clinton: I could not watch the Monica interview on the tube last night. I am one American male that does not support Monica, the President, or what the two of them have done. I also do not know you or anything about your private life. However, there are no excuses for what Mr. Clinton has done to you and your daughter. Any man who loves his family would have resigned to save his family from the hurt that you have incurred.

The Monica interview and the media hype from it have really left me shocked of what Americans have become. She cheated with a married man - God will have something to say about this.

My heart really goes out to you and your daughter. What a thing for a maturing young women to have to deal with. Life at her age is hard enough when you are loved and supported. I can not believe that America in general does not get the point. This man took a vow to you and to God.

I am really sorry for you and your daughter. At least it is over and you can go on, however your daughter will deal with this for a long time. I have thought and prayed a lot over this. Take care and God be with you and Chelsea.

Message: I've just read a couple of the forum 63 and, boy-oh-boy am I disgusted. For one thing, anyone reading "Donald Duck's" message can tell why HE (re: Donald Duck) is not President. With that kind of attitude ... let's not drop down to his level. I just think its extremely shallow of him to be criticizing other people's "looks" - he's not telling us anything except that he's shallow, and so is this society.

As for the message by "Alberto", it's great to be patriotic and love your own country, but let's not too over-zealous - you're just showing signs of the brainwashing you've been through 'cause America has never been a perfect or "very moral" place (re: taking land from the Natives, Puritans going on hunts for "witches", doing horrible things to get rid of "enemies" and trying to make Americans believe that they are always right). Don't ever forget that the land you now call America was not "yours" to begin with and that the colonizers were Europeans who liked to go all over the world, thinking that they were barbarians who thought they owned the world and tried to own the world - meanwhile, calling all other peoples "BARBARIANS".

Another thing, God did not just make America, he made the whole world and everything and everybody in it, so stop talking about God as if America owns him (just because you mention Him in your anthem). Don't kid yourself 'cause Americans are not better than any other people, and your morals were never "respected and looked up to" by the rest of the world. Do you know why some countries won't budge over to your country imposing its values on them? It's because your country has not even perfected itself and its people, so what right does it have to criticize other people? You view the world from your little hole-in-the-wall, namely your American media, so you see nothing except for the "bad" things about other countries, and the "good" things of America. Get over it! America's being so great is just the public image that it wants everyone to believe in! Wake up to reality, please!

Sorry I haven't been talking about Hillary Clinton - I still think she's a great role model for modern woman. I'd also like to tell the people that say that she's paying too much attention to being pretty ... etc. that it doesn't represent what she wants - it represents what YOU, the American people, want. You must have not watched Hillary Clinton's "A&E" biography or you'd know that she had to work on her "image" because the Americans in Arkansas could not accept a politician's wife not caring about "prettying up". It is so unfair for people like you to be criticizing Hillary Clinton, because you know nothing about her at all (not that I know a lot, but obviously more than you) - you know nothing about her accomplishments all throughout her schooling, her successful career in law, and all her other other accomplishments.

Hillary Clinton is not all about looks (which she naturally had anyway, so stop biting off her head because she's pretty) - her brains are much more important and powerful, but of course you can't see 'cause you're too busy looking at her outer appearance and criticizing her. Also, is it not hard enough for her to have to deal with her own husband's unfaithfulness that you have to continue to torture her with you nasty, shallow comments? Why do you sound as though you're blaiming her for her husband's wrongs? According to your views, Americans are supposed to have high values, so they should not have such ancient, sexist views - but apparently, you Americans are not better than others 'cause you haven't gotten over this yet. The government claims it is trying to thwart money launderers and drug dealers. But what this law will do is turn every bank teller into a government informer and everyone with a bank account into a criminal suspect.

In a free society, the government has no business asking where you get your money or how you spend it -- and politicians have no right to force your bank to monitor your account.

But that's exactly what's going to happen, unless we can generate enough opposition before the FDIC's comment period expires on March 8. Outraged Americans have already flooded the FDIC with over 20,000 comments against the Know Your Customer regulation -- but the agency hasn't backed down yet.

Monica Lewinsky's strange, smiling demeanor during a 20/20 interview Wednesday night suggested a flibbertigibbet who doesn't understand what she has lived through.

She smiled when asked why she has affairs with married men. She laughed at a question about showing President Clinton her thong underwear. She said the infamous blue dress was funny to her.

Lewinsky hoped the ABC interview with Barbara Walters would establish her credibility for the rest of her life.

Instead, 20/20 exposed her as a ditz who enjoyed the limelight. The ultimate folly is that she could hold such fascination for the country.

The early portions were so unflattering that it was hard to accept Lewinsky's tears about what the scandal had done to her family.

It was a strange interview. The oddest moment came when Walters asked Lewinsky to define phone sex. Lewinsky also played analyst in describing Clinton as a "very sensual man" with "a very strong religious upbringing."

The chat unfolded like a gabfest between confidantes, with Walters stepping into the role that Linda Tripp used to play. It was mostly about feelings. Woa, woa, woa, feelings.

The big scoop: Monica's not in love with Clinton anymore. And she'll tell her children: "Mommy made a big mistake."

Walters proclaimed that the understatement of the year. But this interview was a mistake for Walters, who was alternately condescending, mawkish and laughable.

The chat was more a voyeuristic experience than journalism. And it was long -- I was ready to check out after 45 minutes.

What does the song [The Ghetto] say(mean)

First off the song was written by Mac Davis (I am not correcting you - just pointing out this tidbit). The song is about bad choices that people make. The song illustrates what can happen when people refuse to take responsibility for their own lives and while having irresponsible sex these irresponsible people have children that learn to be irresponsible from their irresponsible (and sometimes missing) parents.

In the song a child is born "And his mother cries" - my wife didn't cry when our children were born because we planned them - we spent years going to school, building our careers, investing, buying a house so we could take responsibility for ourselves and our offspring.

The song says the child "needs a helping hand" - why? Because he had irresponsible parents. There are people in this world that refuse to take responsibility for carrying their own weight - not to mention providing for the needs of their offspring. One of the things I find to be vile and repugnant about liberalism in this country is that it teaches that sex is a right and has no consequences - which is a lie. Liberal say it is your right to f*** like a bunny but 1) when you get a STD it is the governments fault (AIDS) 2) If you get pregnant it is OK to kill your baby. 3) If you are too lazy to kill your baby, it is the governments responsibility to take care of your children ("a helping hand"). BTW - I am all for "teaching a man to fish" but I am vehemently against the Liberal idea of distributing fish.

Later in the song we hear "a hungry little child with a runny nose plays in the streets". Whose responsibility is it to feed the child, take care of the medical needs of the child, and keep the child safe? Conservatives (and Christian ethics) say the parents. Liberalism (and Karl Marx) says the State (i.e. the Government). Liberalism exacerbates the problem by perpetuating it. Christians believe in charity for the truly needy. Liberals believe is entitlements (i.e. all Americans are entitle to money that came from the hard work of someone else).

Later, the child "buys a gun steals a car tries to run but he don't get far and his mother cries" - I guess Mac Davis is part conservative because he has the boy BUYING a gun to STEAL the car (why not steal both?). Anyway, it is obvious the parents of this child were not very successful in teaching this kid right from wrong and the irresponsible parents provide a horrid environment which fostered the boy's criminal instincts. Truth is kids can go wrong even if they were taught - thus is life. Liberals says we should throw other people's money at the problem - Conservative says parents need to keep fighting the good fight and stop expecting someone else to do it for them.

At the end of the song - experience proves that being an irresponsible parent yields sick, criminal, and often dead children - another women, knowing the situation has another unwanted child and cries. Hillary would say the solution would be to kill more babies. Conservative say people MUST take responsible for their lives and the lives of those they create. I think this song illustrate the difference between Liberals like Hillary and Conservatives nicely.

Under Clinton - the rich are richer and the poor are poorer than ever before (worse than the 80's). The cause is Liberalism (of which Hillary champions). Liberalism is a "feel good" philosophy that is oblivious of real life consequences. Liberals build giant public housing complexes and give them to irresponsible people and wonder why they destroy them as fast as the liberals can build them - people will NEVER appreciate something THEY DID NOT EARN (this is simple Christian logic). The Liberal take money from hard working people and give it to people that do nothing and then they can not figure out why more and more people are on the dole - simple Christian values - the Liberals are creating an underclass and teaching them NOT TO WORK and to be dependent on the government and the money taken from people that do work.

I was a wide-eye, idealistic Democrat until I reach a point of awakening and stopped living by knee-jerk cliches. Liberalism does not work and it is the root on most of our problems - sure it starts from good intentions but it runs contrary to logic and knowledge of human nature. Liberalism may have had a few good ideas but needy all of its implementations have been failures: 30 year Liberal war on poverty that failed, race relation are getting much worst (not better), etc. Liberals have the PR machine and the feel-good sound bites but the Conservatives have the solutions that work. Remember the Republican Welfare reform that basically was a stab in the heart of liberalism - the president reluctantly signed it vowing to "fix it" - he never "fixed it" and now champions it - liberalism lost big time but the spin machine worked overtime to cover this up. Anyway - thanks TPI for giving me the lead-in to explain why I am no longer a Democrat, why I am a conservative, and why I find liberalism appalling .

Don't you just love people that believe history started about 400 years ago. Everybody lives is a place that at one time belonged somebody else - JEEPERS! The Native Americans walked here form Asia or they came from Palestine if you are into the Later Day Saint trip. The "Native American's" were actually many different groups of people that spent a great deal of their time kicking each other's butts and stealing their land. If the "Native Americans" evolved quicker than the Europeans - we would be complaining about the Indian domination of Europe (I know using the term "Indian" is silly in this context but it gets the point across). The lesson is simple - man sees land, man tried to take land. It is not a "white" thing or European thing because ALL of mankind partakes in this activity.

Europeans are not the only ones that went around the world kicking butt - I got three words for you: Attila the Hun - what do you call him European, Asian? I guess you are not a student of history or you are simply referring to now. True, the Clinton years have brought disdain on our country and because of the actions of Clinton we currently are not respected in the world -but it was not always that way. Look back to the eighties - people where dancing in the streets and celebrating America, Reagan, and Bush for ending the cold war and the tyranny that was the Soviet Union. Going further back in history - our fledgling country was THE model for modern free countries and Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln are studied and modeled by most free countries. I once saw the number of countries that based their constitution on our constitution - I don't remember it but it was huge. True, the world does not respect American of the Clinton years - but they do respect out basis and once Clinton is gone they will likely respect our presidency again.

Hillary would be nuts to run

The Democratic party needs her elsewhere, and besides, she'll get whomped

By simultaneously running cover stories on her, Time and Newsweek have fuelled the flames of Hillary Clinton possibly seeking the New York Senate seat of retiring Sen. Patrick Moynihan next year.

TV and print commentators, as well as editorialists, politicians and assorted groupies have made a greater to-do over that possibility than has been made over Kosovo, Kurds, Iraq, the West Bank or what to do about Juanita Broaddrick. Lost, or at least diminished, in the will-she-won't-she euphoria about Hillary running for Moynihan's Senate seat in 2000, is any vestige of common sense or reality. Ignored or downplayed are those voices saying it's unlikely to the point of lunacy that Hillary would challenge New York - that it's all hype to divert attention from hubby Bill, whose job may be safe but whose character rating after Juanita Broaddrick's rape charges matches that of O.J. Simpson's.

Apart from personal reasons, why Hillary is unlikely to run for the Senate next year is that she's desperately needed by the Democratic party as a fund-raiser for Al Gore's run for the presidency. If she's locked up in New York, with headlines focusing on her answers to awkward questions, she won't be able to travel the country wooing contributions from those who admire her as a victim, a martyr, a gutsy mother, a fighter against assorted "vast right-wing conspiracies."

If she goes for Moynihan's vacated seat, she'll inevitably be asked about Bill's philandering. If she pleads ignorance until the truth becomes public and inescapable, it'll beg the observation that she must be pretty dumb - too dumb to be an effective senator, who must be sensitive to trends and nuances.

If she says it's none of anyone's business and refuses to answer, it'll lead to questions about her morality and values for living with and supporting a sexual predator who may also be a rapist.

It's a no-win situation for her. Make no mistake, the New York media and political opponents will be ambushing her at every opportunity - far more than if she were first lady raising money for the cause.

And none of this even touches on issues like the $100,000 she made from cattle futures on the stock market which every expert says would have been impossible without insider help. The 60 Minutes expose on this deal a few years ago will be revived.

CHALLENGE IN ARKANSAS

If Hillary really wants to become a professional politician in the Senate, she'd be wiser to wait until 2002 when her hubby is out of office and she can challenge for the Senate seat in Arkansas now held by Republican House Manager Asa Hutchinson's brother - and maybe gain a modicum of revenge for the impeachment proceedings.

Most people who supposedly know about these things suggest Hillary's best shot at the Senate would be in Wisconsin (the state she hails from) in 2004.

Those immune from jumping on bandwagons and not seduced by the drama of Hillary carrying the Clinton colours in New York next year, point to the enormous legal debts the Clintons are presumably saddled with - $850,000 alone to Paula Jones on condition she not appeal the suit that Clinton won. (An odd reaction from a man judged innocent of dropping his pants!)

One aspect that remains unmentioned in this mix is the possibility that when the president leaves office, his wife will leave him - either a separation or divorce. That might make her more sympathetic, but it would raise even more questions about what took her so long.

BE WARY

While it's flattering and tantalizing to be sought after to run for political office, unless the candidate has an agenda and burning desire to implement policies it's wise to be wary.

Hillary will almost certainly be offered a senior UN job if she wants it, which would pay more than she'd get as a senator. She could easily make $1 million a year making speeches - if that is her wont - speeches in which, in the question period after, she won't have to be as candid and direct as she'd have to be if she's running for the Senate in New York.

New York columnist Jimmy Breslin, hardly a right-wing fanatic, and one who who knows his city better than most, insists Hillary can't win. 60 Minutes' Andy Rooney is another who thinks there's not a chance Hillary will run - that her candidacy is all smoke and mirrors and no substance. If she does, she'll be whomped.

Even if New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani weren't likely to run against her for the Republicans, Hillary would have a rough time. With Giuliani in the race, she'd be mincemeat. Wanna bet?

While it's fun to speculate, people should turn a jaundiced eye at anything the Clintons undertake - as 80% of Americans do, who find the president untrustworthy, even the 68% who want him to stay on the job.

Sure you could tap a line into the Watergate Apartments if you had the right technicians, but my question to you was based on Clinton's OUTGOING CALLS. We have sophisticated telcome technology that can detect ANY INTERFERENCE on your phone line. I am willing to bet that our telcom technology is superior to the Israeli's telcom technology and that our president would be protected against calling anyone who is trying to tape his phone calls. You can even buy a cheap version of this technology at Radio Shack if you are suspicious that somebody in your home or office is listening on your line. So don't get so smart. I'll just laugh at you!

That "technology" you mention is a bit ficticious. As one who specializes in communications I assure you I could tap someone's line and no one could know depending on where I intercepted the conveersation. You might also remember that Clinton told Monica the phone lines were not secure.

One could certainly tap into the Watergate T1 (digital transmission) system with a passive listening device and there is no way to detect this. One could also tap into the SLIC (Subscriber's Line Interface Circuit) with a passive, high impedance device and no one could detect.

That cheap technology you mention can only tell you if a second standard phone is on the same SLIC.

You missed my point LVD. Are you aware that there is technology that can alert you if somebody else is on your line?

Well, well - you missed the pointed times infinity! Let me explain how technology works - it keeps changing, progressing. Sure there are devices that detect a tap - you can buy them at radio shack, but as soon as a device that detects a tap is invented a device that creates a tap that cannot be detected is created. It is pretty simple - a tap is detected by ether sounds on the line or voltage variances so all you have to do is create a tap that does neither of the things the tap detector looks for. I will bet you can find on the Internet a method to fool a tap detect (if I get the time I will look). As soon as something is defined - an alternative can be defined. If you believe it is currently impossible for someone to tap a phone without it being detected - you are naïve (just my opinion). BTW - most people use cordless phones so it is likely Monica has one - hell you can monitor a cordless phone with a cheap properly tuned radio shack scanner.

I will take that bet - at best we are equal. Israel is not a banana republic. They have the BEST anti-terrorism methods in the world (at least one of the best) because they are under constant attack - they have taught the US military a thing or two. You implications of what Isikoff said in his article "Right Wing Web" are fallacious. I can't figure out if you are being purposely deceitful or are you suffering with "wishful thinking". You wild claim that Linda Tripp was in it for the money is NOT supported by the article in ANY WAY! The statement about the book deal was second hand speculation that was not attributed to ANYBODY! This is the passage you misquoted:

Protecting the tapes took on new urgency. There was talk of getting the tapes into the hands of a third party, someone who would make sure they weren't destroyed. Perhaps a publisher who could put them under the cloak of the First Amendment.

By October 1997, I had only a sketchy picture of the behind-the-scenes maneuvering by the lawyers, but I was told about the tapes by Goldberg and others. They offered to play them for me, but I begged off. I did not want to be a part of whatever they were up to. I wasn't happy when I heard about the suggestion that they could use the tapes as the basis for a tell-all book. Stunned at this idea, I called Goldberg and told her that such a move was insane. The article says somebody implies they could get a book deal but Isikoff thought it would undermine Tripp's credibility. The book deal was fictitious - it never happen nor was it ever talked about. Message: Dear Hillary I am graduating with a teaching degree in art education in Flint, MI. I do not know much about, nor have the time to want to keep up on the latest political scandals, but I do watch the news every day.

I saw you in New York the other day promoting art education in the schools there. New York is known for its great contributions to the arts, and it does not surprise me that art ed. is viewed as in important part of the development of a child there. But are you aware that in Flint, MI. they have totally erased the art programs at the elementary level in the schools? Just the other day, again

I saw on the news Mr. Clinton commending Governor Engler for a great job he has done in the area of education and child care in Michigan. Boy has he got the wool pulled over your eyes! There is a place called the Flint Institute of Arts, where I am currently employed and it is very sad that parents are on waiting lists, willing to pay to get their children enrolled in a program there, because there is no where else to go to expose them to art anymore. Flint was once a thriving community, full of a culture rich in the arts, but it seems to me that Engler has slowly contributed to the demise of the beautiful heritage we were once very proud of in Flint, Michigan (because ther is no money in the budget to finance an art progam anymore).

The excuse is that the regular classroom teacher can now teach art to their students along with the other achedemics they must know. If this were true; that the elementary teacher is qualified to teach art as well as the other disciplines just as effectively, then why did I waste the last 4 years of my life (not to mention $25,000) concentrating on the elements of art, color theory, and "Discipline Based Art Education" in depth so I could help make our youth more well rounded individuals?

Ask those regular elementary classroom teachers if they know how to put together a proper lesson plan to help the 3rd grader understand the concept of perspective within a composition? For that matter ask them if they know how to present the color wheel to these kids, and why it may be important to have such knowledge in their life long learning. I could go on and on, because I am very angry, but I think I have made my point. Thank You.
