Hillary for President, Vice President or Senator

TIME.COM: A Race of Her Own

NATION
MARCH 1, 1999 VOL. 153 NO. 8
Hillary ignites the country with talk of a New York Senate bid. But will she do it, and--with the media and maybe Rudy lying in wait--can she win?
BY ROMESH RATNESAR
So began a week in which talk about a Hillary run--which had been at a low buzz since January--rose to a clamorous din and then to a round-the-clock media roar. Just when the Republic thought it could safely turn its attention toward more pressing matters (How could the Yankees trade David Wells? What will ER do without George Clooney?), the Clintons snagged the headlines and talk shows for themselves--but with some good news for a change. Daniel Patrick Moynihan anointed the First Lady heir to his Senate seat, gushing over her "magnificent, young, bright, able, Illinois-Arkansas enthusiasm." When Virginia Senator Chuck Robb appeared at a White House forum on Social Security, he noted that he was the only one there from the Senate. "Of course, that's only the current U.S. Senate that I am referring to," he said, to gales of knowing laughter--and, hey, was that Bill and Hillary winking at each other behind his back?

The speculation grew so fervid that the First Lady on Tuesday issued a statement announcing that--gasp!--she was thinking about it: "I will give careful thought to a potential candidacy in order to reach a decision later this year." Released shortly before 6 p.m., perfectly timed to be read by the network news anchors, the statement revved the Washington-New York gossip machine. By Friday, when Hillary met for a private lunch with Moynihan, and Clinton again signaled his support during a press conference with French President Jacques Chirac, political hacks were salivating at the prospect of a celebrity death match between Clinton and New York City's imperious mayor, Rudolph Giuliani--a notion that makes the state's Democrats as giddy as 12-year-olds at an 'N Sync show. According to a TIME/CNN poll of New York voters last week, if the election were held now, Hillary would whip Giuliani (52% to 43%), and she would be in a dead heat with New York Governor George Pataki (49% to 47%).

Message: Republicans - Here's your chance to tell Big Government to keep out of our bank accounts.

I'm participating in an Internet campaign to stop a regulation which would require your bank to spy on you, and I'd like to invite you to join me.

We now have less than 20 days to contact the FDIC and demand that it kill its proposed "Know Your Customer" rule. Please forward this message to any friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, or other people you know who may be interested, then go to http://www.defendyourprivacy.com and sign the petition. It will be submitted directly to the FDIC. Plus, a copy will be sent to your representative in the U.S. House and to both your U.S. Senators.

The FDIC's Know Your Customer rule would force banks to "monitor" your checking and savings account and report any "unusual transactions" to the federal government. This frightening threat to your financial privacy would force your bank to:

* Discover your "source of funds"
* Determine your "normal and expected transactions"
* Report any "suspicious activity" to federal investigators
The government claims it is trying to thwart money launderers and drug dealers. But what this law will do is turn every bank teller into a government informer and everyone with a bank account into a criminal suspect.

In a free society, the government has no business asking where you get your money or how you spend it -- and politicians have no right to force your bank to monitor your account.

But that's exactly what's going to happen, unless we can generate enough opposition before the FDIC's comment period expires on March 8. Outraged Americans have already flooded the FDIC with over 20,000 comments against the Know Your Customer regulation -- but the agency hasn't backed down yet.

Let's keep up the pressure.

Please forward this e-mail to everyone you know who might be interested in helping, but please don't send it indiscriminately -- spam will only hurt our campaign.

Then go to http://www.defendyourprivacy.com and sign the petition.

Thank you.

I think you should write a new book: "How to maintain a non dysfunctional Marriage." Maybe you could write this book and do a campaign, book signing tour at the same time. Your such an authority on family life, maybe when you become Senator you could bring us the Federal Dept of Happy Marriage. Good luck and continue to lead by example and not empty rhetoric.

You don't want us to look back? Let's see how long it takes you before you look back to shred Reagan or Gingrich or me since I am now posting and when you read it it will be in your past. Yet again we agree on something! The "Know Your Customer" program is nothing more than a front for more government snooping into our private lives. On this one, I'm with you 100 percent. This link will allow you to send your comments to the FDIC about the "Know Your Customer" program. It has been on the Neal Boortz page for months. The more I listen to this Libertarian and the longer I watch the Republicans act like they lost the last three elections the more I think I might be changing parties.... Nah, they'd just screw it up too. Conservatives and Libertarians make one giant error; they depend on an educated populace for support.

Your husband can't and or won't deny charges of rape. His attorney gives an answer that again holds the enigma code that We all have to cypher through, and I can't help but feel that You, Hillary, knew all this....... And I don't get it? A defense that is characteristic of southern pre-civil rights, that all these women are liars or sluts? so therefor William Jefferson Clinton is less or not at all guilty? weren't they too citizens? I don't get it? I have read George Orwell's "1984" many times and this is it with a truly red-neck spin. I still am an advocate of Women's equality, not just lip service while playing some other game as obviously goes on in the White House. If I was You, I would have divorced Billy boy a long time ago and saved Yourself, Your Daughter, American women and America a lot of disgrace. Hillary for President? or Resident? Ask Your Husband to resign now and Damn the stockmarket. P.S. I don't get it? Do You?

Hillary Rodham Clinton: future senator?

Can-do candidate

New York news media will go easier on Hillary Clinton than anyone imagines

By Jay Severin
MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR

March 1 —  I, for one, enjoy saying I Told You So. In this space several months ago appeared an article outlining the scenario for Hillary Clinton’s Senate then, Presidential campaign. My calculus has not changed and now, to its credit, the rest of the world appears to have caught on to this absolutely dreadful, but entirely plausible, possibility.

Going negative on HRC would be as easy and painless as attacking, say, Colin Powell. Giuliani knows this. And he wants to be President, too. Do you think he believes this is the way to get there? If he beats Hillary up and beats her, he wins a Senate seat, but may forfeit his White House shot. Worse, if Rudy beats her up and loses, he loses, period. This is why if Hillary runs, she may clear the field not merely of Democrat challengers, but brand name Republicans, too.

GAUDY DEMOCRACY, NEW YORK STYLE

If I am wrong (there’s a first time for everything) and it turns out to be Hillary v. Rudy, my consolation prize is substantial: a color commentator’s front row seat for an extraordinarily big, loud, gaudy, demonstration of democracy, New York style. Please, God.
But one word of warning: from little acorns, great oaks grow. Should it blossom, a successful 2000 Senate candidacy by Hillary Clinton makes her presidential candidacy in as soon as six years totally plausible, even likely. Yikes.

Jeepers, you had four fathers - I only had one. OH, you mean forefathers.

From the exstreme attempts I have seen ,pertaining to the ,yet continually defeated ploys to sabotage the peoples vote.

You mean like when the Democrats get illegal aliens and dead people to vote for their candidates or the way the Kennedy's used the Mafia to rig the presidential election results of Illinois in favor of JFK (and when he turn his back on the needs of the Mafia, they put out a hit on him)?

we have accomplished so much in the equal rights amendment. (long bewildered pause)…Ok, are you lobbing me softballs on purpose? I like to poke holes in the logic of liberals but this is like shooting fish in a barrel. TPI - you are a lot of fun but you are in definite need of a clue. Why don't you study and read a bit before you start typing - you are extremely naïve, politically speaking. The Equal Rights Amendment is dead and has been dead for many years - they tried to ratify it in 1978 and it was officially defeated in 1988 (by a Democrat controlled congress) . It is one think to not understand and quite another to ramble on incoherently. You may what to spend a little more time studying right now and bit less time rambling.

We are seeing God work in our favior and he will continue to do so untill prophecy becomes reality .

Exactly which God are you talking about and exactly which prophecy are you speaking of - you left-wing extremist religious fanatics scare me!

my abusive thug LVD

First off - I am not your anything! Second, I guess your definition of a thug is someone that has taken the time to study in an attempt to understand as compared to someone like yourself that spews incoherently.

You made a comment that "WE" always use "WE" instead of being just a "ME" Isnt that what God intended for us to work together as "WE's" and Not "Me's"

What does God's plan have to do with you pretending you speak for many people when all you can possibly speak for is yourself. I call it egotistical liberal delusions. Seem that many liberal believe they have been appointed spokesmodel for America. I speak for myself - and nobody else - I don't speak for my wife (although I have been know to speak on her behalf - I don' even speak for my dog (First Visible Dog).

Hillary is a Classic 'Abused Wife'

Linda Bowles

March 2, 1999

Most of us are all too familiar with the clinging wife who desperately doesn't want to know that her husband is a lout and a lecher. If she knows, she will feel pressure to do something about it, and the prospect of that terrifies her. This pathetic woman justifies her lack of courage and her denial by praising the man who has betrayed her. "He is good to the children," she says, "and he is a good provider." Her defense of him is her rationalization for not facing up to the problem.

This is the classic abused wife. This is Hillary.

In political terms, this describes a substantial number of American women, whose behavior toward Bill Clinton bears uncanny parallels to that of the cowering, downtrodden wife.

But now, this cozy, arguably dysfunctional relationship between millions of American women and Bill Clinton is being challenged by very credible accusations that he is a rapist.

Juanita Broaddrick, a successful Arkansas businesswoman, has accused Bill Clinton, then attorney general of Arkansas, of brutally raping her in an Arkansas hotel room.

For 20 years, Broaddrick, a Democrat, resisted all efforts to get her to tell her story. She simply wanted it to go away. She was convinced no one would believe her word against that of the chief law enforcement officer of Arkansas. But finally, she had to tell the truth, or risk perjuring herself before a grand jury.

Is she believable? Those closest to her story, including ace NBC reporter Lisa Myers and the legendary Wall Street Journal columnist Dorothy Rabinowitz, attest that she is very believable. The liberal Washington Post found her story credible enough to put on its front page.

NBC obviously didn't want to air their exclusive television interview of Broaddrick. They looked hard and long to see if they could find a flaw or contradiction in her account, or an alibi for the president. They found none -- but the delay enabled them to avoid showing the horrifying interview until after Clinton had been acquitted by the Senate.

That's too bad. Democrat Sen. Tom Harkin now says it may have changed his vote. What a hypocrite! The information about the rape was always available to him. He didn't want to look at it.

Broaddrick's story is supported by the testimony of a number of friends, including Norma Rogers, who found her in the hotel room on the bed, in shock, with a badly swollen lip. Broaddrick told her that Clinton bit into her upper lip and held on to control her as he raped her.

Perhaps the most chilling and memorable thing recounted by Broaddrick during the televised interview was her description of what Bill Clinton said and did just before he left the room: "The last thing he said to me was, 'You better get some ice for that.' And he put on his sunglasses and walked out the door."

When Bill Clinton was asked by reporters to comment on Broaddrick's accusation, he said, in effect, "Talk to my lawyer."

One might have expected more of a president. However, this display of contempt reflects his confidence that he will get away with it, that it will be quickly forgotten. There are signs that he may be right.

The day after the stunning rape accusation was seen on television, Clinton began a six-day, in-your-face swing across the West, including stops at Tucson, Ariz., and San Francisco. He was welcomed by cheering crowds of fawning Democrats and phony feminists. We have in full view what Bill Bennett was talking about when he said, "If you rape somebody, be sure you are pro- choice."

In the meanwhile, Republican Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont has declared that the rape allegation was about a "private matter."

When Mark Johnson, a radio talk-show host, asked how that would be a private matter, the senator replied, "If something had happened 21 years ago with a woman who invited, at least under her story, the president up to her hotel room, and she was not happy with what happened, I don't know why that's not a private matter."

Jeffords later apologized, but he has given us all a close look at what kind of abject jerk he really is.

To cap it off, the national media is trying to make a saint of the long-suffering Hillary Rodham, the nation's most-visible female doormat. We will have to wait and see if New Yorkers are truly interested in electing an abused wife from Arkansas as their next senator.

When President Clinton's term of office expires and he is leaving the White House, perhaps he will turn at the door, bite his lower lip, put on his shades, and tell all Americans, "You may want to put some ice on that."

Friends, Clinton loyalists in the White House have told friends that some White House staffers aren't merely helping media outlets dig up Republican skeletons. "They're going after some former friends too," says a former White House employee now with another Cabinet-level staff. "Some White House people are extremely displeased with what some former Clinton friends are saying publicly and privately to the press about the president." In late December a CBS "60 Min- utes" producer was offered copies of what he claims were a former high-ranking Clin- ton administration staffer's internal employment file, which included potentially embarrassing memoranda from the Secret Service and the IRS. Another story being shopped is that of a former White House employee who paid for a mistress' abortion to avoid a potentially messy press scandal and divorce. The Woman in question now works in the Washington news bureau of a broadcast network.

Inside Politics

News and political dispatches from around the nation

By Greg Pierce THE WASHINGTON TIMES '

Are you proud?'

Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, may have struck the right tone in attacking President Clinton at the California GOP convention last weekend, writes Los Angeles Times columnist George Skelton.

"My friends, something has gone terribly wrong in a country where parents no longer wish their children to grow up to be president," Mr. McCain told the audience at a GOP dinner.

"They see the public profession as corrupt, and they wish to hold their children to higher standards. Americans have lost pride in their government. That shames me. ...

"Even amid today's peace and prosperity, the people know that something is wrong with the country. Ask any American one simple question: 'Are you proud?'"

Mr. McCain "then went through a litany of things not to be proud of about this president -- renting the Lincoln Bedroom, for example -- without mentioning sex," the columnist said, adding:

"Indeed, 'Are you proud?' could become the equivalent of Ronald Reagan's famous 1980 query to voters: 'Ask yourselves whether you are better off today than four years ago.'"

Who Is This Guy?

By Richard Cohen
Tuesday, March 2, 1999; Page A17

A line from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" keeps going through my mind. It's what Cassidy says over and over as a relentless posse keeps to its task: "Who are those guys?" More or less the same question occurs to me about Bill Clinton: Who is this guy?

At one time, I thought I knew. He was a somewhat left of center southern governor -- a progressive, a policy wonk, a product of the antiwar movement and, of course, a womanizer. This much I knew, and none of it, including the last, bothered me much.

What's more, Clinton was well spoken for. I knew literally dozens of people who considered him a friend. They praised his intellect, his leadership ability, his political smarts, his warmth, his humanity and, in one unforgettable conversation, his sexual rectitude. On this score, a Clinton intimate told me, he was not the guy we in Washington thought he was.

Now, though, I feel about Clinton as that friend must: Who is this guy? He is not the liberal I once thought he was. He is tone deaf on civil liberties, for instance, and nothing less than opportunistic when it comes to the death penalty. But that is the least of it. It's his character I wonder about. It's his character, in fact, I worry about.

In this area, I have been consistently wrong about Clinton. In his infidelities, I thought he would favor like-minded women -- an occasional affair with some assistant professor of government. Gennifer Flowers proved me wrong. I confess to having been surprised. She wasn't what I expected.

Then came Paula Jones. I don't know what happened in that hotel room, but I do know from the testimony of others (an Arkansas state trooper) that Jones was summoned to see Clinton -- and it was not to take dictation. What happened next remains a mystery. I only know what I believe. I tend to believe Jones.

Next we come to Monica Lewinsky. We have all become accustomed to this scandal, but if you told me once that the president of the United States was having a sexual whatever with a virtual kid on his staff, I would not have believed it. With a mature woman, maybe. Outside the White House, possibly. But near the Oval Office, hiding from the hedge cutters outside in the Rose Garden, never.

Now we come to Juanita Broaddrick. She alleges rape -- 21 years ago, in a Little Rock hotel room by none other than the then-attorney general of Arkansas, Bill Clinton. Her allegation is unverifiable: another hotel room where only two people were present. The accusation is dated, details forgotten, others undoubtedly altered by the imperatives of memory to tidy things up. The rape charge cannot be proved. Never mind that it cannot be disproved. That is not the point. That is not our system.

And yet, I cannot get this accusation out of my head. On television -- and in interviews with newspaper reporters -- Broaddrick appeared credible. The White House denies the charge, but so what? I would expect nothing else. Anyway, we're not talking George Washington here. With Clinton, if there's a cherry tree down, we know who did it.

Is it possible the president's a rapist? Am I not supposed to care? Do we all simply move on, whack the press for bringing us yet more bad news and insist that Washington get down to real work? For me, it's not that easy. A woman has cried rape. She sounds credible. A pinched denial, uttered through lawyers, is not satisfactory. We need more.

We need, in fact, for the president to restore his relationship with the American people. He has not had a solo news conference in 10 months. Instead, he takes the occasional shouted question at a photo-op or is seen plunging into this or that crowd. He's become the bearer of good news -- a drizzle of petty programs announced as if each one were the Marshall Plan.

In addition to a news conference, it would be great if Clinton sat down with some television type and really engaged in a conversation -- let us know what he has learned about himself, tell us who he is and, if possible, who he used to be. I know we will see a performance, but even so, some insight will be gained. As it is, we have a president who has told us his preference in underwear and was vouched for by countless people who said they knew him well. Now, though, it seems none of us knows him at all. We all have the same question.

Who is this guy?

``Clinton accused of rape while at Oxford''

Clinton accused of rape while at Oxford

by Richard Holliday

President Bill Clinton is facing a fresh sex scandal today over claims that he raped a 19-year-old girl while he was a student at Oxford in the Sixties.

The allegation - together with claims that he sexually assaulted another student while at Yale - appear on a Washington website, Capitol Hill Blue.

It is claimed the future president met the 19 year old in an Oxford pub when he was a Rhodes Scholar in 1969.A retired State Department official is quoted by the website confirming that the rape took place and saying: "There is no doubt in my mind that this woman suffered severe emotional trauma.

"But we were under tremendous pressure to avoid the embarrassment of having a Rhodes Scholar charged with rape. I filed a report to my superiors and that was the last I heard of it."

He added that he was under the impression that while at Oxford "Clinton was more interested in drinking, drugs and sex than studies." Capitol Hill Blue says the alleged victim - who is now married and lives near London - hired a lawyer and changed her phone number after saying she would not go public with further details. Before moving to the London area she is believed to have lived in Europe for a number of years, most recently in Germany.

Women students who were at Oxford at the same time as Clinton have accused him of "boorish behaviour", claiming he would press himself up against them and frequently suggest they should be honoured to have sex with him.

The Yale University allegations centre on an incident in 1972 - where Clinton had returned from Oxford to study. A 22-year-old woman student complained to campus police she had been sexually assaulted by him.The web-site claims police confirmed the report.

Like the woman in England, the Yale victim was tracked down, but she too refused to give her married name or to discuss the allegations.

The Capitol Hill Blue allegations come as Monica Lewinsky prepares to launch her book about her relationship with the President - written by British journalist Andrew Morton - with a series of television interviews. She arrives in the UK this week. Public opinion appeared to be turning against the President when he and Hillary Clinton took a break in Utah over the weekend to celebrate their daughter Chelsea's 19th birthday on the ski slopes. There women protesters carried placards reading "Rapist resign."

Message: Hillary, please run for the NY Senate. The more they pull your husband down the higher you will rise. More than 40% of the women in the USA are married to jerks who are unfaithful or abuse women sexually. You are not alone.

We share your pain. So many of us have been through the same dilemma. I went through it for over 20 years and eventually divorced. I stayed married because he was distinguished, interesting, good company, a very good father and a good provider. He never cheated on his income tax, cared for people and was well liked and respected in the community.

But he had this one really bad weakness which caused serious problems in our marriage. But I stayed married because I could not see that any other man would be a better father and on that point I was absolutely right.

I do believe that my decision to remain in the marriage was definitely in the best interest of the children and the grandchildren.

When one marries and brings children into the world there are sacrifices to be made. Decisions must be made in the best interest of all the members of the family, not just for one person.

After many "slips" and "apologies" and promises never to do it again I realized, as other women who are not in denial have also realized, that their husband has a weakness and must be watched continually.

Is this so terrible? I looked at other women whose husbands were alcoholics, wife beaters, unhealthy, bad providers, uninteresting, stupid, criminals, etc., and decided that except for that one really bad fault I would rather stick with him than change, and that there would come a day when I would be free. That day came. Now I have the pleasure of looking back and seeing a wonderful father and grandfather doting over his children and grandchildren and I know I made the right decision for

Message: Okay you silly people on this forum. I guess I will have to set you guys straight on everything. Please keep in mind that I am not the smartest person, but I think I am on the right track. I also suffer from attention deficit disorder and tend to think with my other head more often than not. I consider myself a real democrat. Not one of those pansies that want to hug trees, save owls, or worship lesbians. I am a blue collar worker that has a sore back and grime under my fingernails. I truly reflect the majority of americans in this country that support Bill Clinton. I am the only one of my friends that even knows how to turn on a computer since I get relegated to a desk job. I also am representative of a lot of republican men that don't give a damn about school prayer or abortion doctors. My wife and I are truly johnny and suzee sixpack. We identify with Bill and Hillary because Bill came from poor roots. He might have pulled a few scams to get where he is but who doesnt?? So I run a few personal errands with the company truck? You gonna sic Kenny on me?? I don't care about what is going on in any other dumb country, I just worry about my damn union forcing me to strike. I am okay with Bill getting some tail on the side and lying to everybody to not get nailed for trying to get a piece of Paula. Though I think shes hideous looking. Must have been the tight skirt. Bill and Hillary probably are like a couple of friends of mine and got an arrangement. To use a metaphor, lets say I am like a bus. I check out a lot of bus stops but the only place I actually stop is suzees. Now my friend had his wife tell him, "look here, I am not gonna be your bus stop anymore. I am gonna open up a bus station!" So now lots of buses pull into her stop and his bus pulls into a lot of stops. Thats the G-rated explanation. And that thing with Juanita, you know that women like it rough sometimes. I don't condone rape but if I was raped by the ugliest woman in the world who bitch-slapped me purple, I would get over it. Now to move on to my answer about congress, you pansy democrats have got to stop trying to get a majority in the house and senate. I don't know what congress and the president were doing when they were all democrats but I know I eneded up being un-employed a lot back then and couldn't afford to have my afterwork beer with my buddies like I can now. Everybody says the economy has been the strongest ever for the past 4 years. Doesn't it occur to you that republicans are running the congress and Bill is making sure to look out for us? Let the republicans run congress and make sure we get a democrat for prez again. Democrats (like me) don't know what a budget is. suzee is the republican in my family and she makes sure we don't get evicted and still makes sure my beer money is there. It seems like whenever democrats have run the whole show, they spend their assets off building rec centers in the ghetto and letting all kinds of illegal immigrants live high on the hog. We get the best of both worlds now, Bill always makes sure democrats get at least half of what we want by shutting down the government until the republicans give in. I guess I am also not a great democrat because I always vote for the babes. You know I didn't vote for Bush but I thought Nancy Reagan was cute enough to get my vote. Tipper and Hillary is my dream team.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is truly the most impressive, distinguished, classy women I have experienced I would imagine that anything she sets her mind to would be a successful decision and one that she would give her entire heart and soul to. That is a proven fact already and I don't think whether it be President, Senator, Lawyer, Mother or Wife we will never be disapointed in her or her efforts. ISRAEL BLACKMAILED BILL WITH MONICA TAPES
By NEAL TRAVIS

Israel blackmailed President Clinton with phone-tapped tapes of his steamy sex talks with Monica Lewinsky, a blockbuster new book charges.

The price Clinton paid for the silence of the Mossad spy agency was calling off an FBI hunt for a top-level Israeli mole allegedly installed at the White House.

The allegation appears in "Gideon's Spies - The Secret History of the Mossad," written by respected author Gordon Thomas and due out next week.

Asked for comment, White House spokesman P.J. Crowley replied, "The only thing I can possibly say is we'll skip the book and wait for the movie."

Israel has denied conducting spying operations in the United States.

But hints about the Mossad connection to Sexgate surfaced in evidence given to independent counsel Kenneth Starr last year.

Lewinsky testified under oath that after a session of heavy petting and oral sex in the White House, Clinton told her that a foreign embassy was tapping the two phone lines in her D.C. apartment.

She said Clinton advised her that if she was questioned about their phone-sex sessions she should claim that they knew their calls were being bugged - and were joking to make the phone-tappers look silly.

Starr did not pursue the matter, as far as the public record shows, and Lewinsky apparently accepted Clinton's story without asking for details.

But author Thomas says Danny Yatom, Mossad inspector general, succeeded in tapping Lewinsky's phone and amassed some 30 hours of sexually explicit conversations between the president and Lewinsky.

Thomas says Tel Aviv used the tapes to stop the probe of an operative code-named "MEGA," who was, and could still be, deep within the White House.

"So far as anyone knows, the Israeli agent MEGA - a much more important spy than the imprisoned CIA traitor Jonathan Pollard, and probably his controller - is still in place at the White House," Thomas said last night from London.

"There was a flurry of high-profile counterintelligence activity which lasted as long as the bioleverage" - that is, blackmail - "took to work."

His book - which coincidentally is published by St. Martin's Press, like Andrew Morton's "Monica's Story" - claims the decision to use the Lewinsky tapes reaches high levels in Israel.

Israel's Committee for Central Intelligence, meeting in emergency session, decided to play dirty by exploiting Monica's steamy chats as a way of protecting their White House "asset," Thomas said.

"FBI counterintelligence, which had also been taping Monica's calls, got the message and decided to go back off," the Welsh-born author claims.

Verifying Thomas' account is difficult because spy agencies almost never comment on their activities or anything anyone writes about them.

It's been reported that the Justice Department and FBI launched an investigation last year for a suspected mole, code-named "MEGA," based on undisclosed evidence that an Israeli spy had penetrated the White House.

Israel heatedly denied a mole existed, saying it had ended such spying with the arrest of Pollard more than a decade ago.

Officials in Jerusalem said MEGA was the code name for a U.S.-Israeli intelligence sharing arrangement to fight terrorism.

In any event, nothing has been heard of the U.S. pursuit of MEGA in a year.

The alleged Mossad connection adds a new dimension to Sexgate - and could even support Hillary Clinton's charge that a "vast, right-wing conspiracy" was out to destroy her husband's presidency.

Asked about that, Thomas replied: "That's not for me to say.

"I can only report the facts as I found them. What you make of the facts is up to you. What Monica makes of them is up to her."

Message: Newt Gingrich Cleared! Now How About a Refund? By Carolyn Gargaro Rightgrrl Co-Founder February 16, 1999 Newt Gingrich has been cleared!! Remember the uproar regarding Newt's "ethics violations"? People can refresh their memory by reading an article I wrote in 1997 about these charges. In brief, David Bonior brought 75 ethics charges against Newt, 74 which were found to have no merit whatsoever (and people say that Ken Starr is on a "witch hunt"?) The last charge, whether Newt funded his college class "Renewing American Civilization" properly, was too complicated a tax issue for the committee to investigate on its own, so they brought in an outside tax expert to investigate. Two charges arose out of this investigation. The first 'charge' from the ethics committee is that he "may have" violated tax law by using tax-deductible contributions from nonprofit organizations to teach an allegedly partisan college course. The second 'charge' from the committee is that, in the course of the investigation, Newt provided false information to the committee. And what was this "false information"? Newt testified that the above contributions were in fact made by those organizations to "Renewing American Civilization." He filed papers that stated the very same thing. This is never a fact that anyone was trying to hide. But one paper filed with the committee stated that those groups did not make the contributions. For this, there was an uproar about Newt's ethics, and he was fined. Basically, Newt was fined $300,000 because he didn't read his lawyers' documents carefully. I could really get into the hypocrisy of this in light of the fact that people want to excuse Bill Clinton for lying under oath, (maybe if the course Newt had taught was about SEX the Democrats would feel differently) but that's not the point of this article. Well, after a 3.5 year probe, after Newt paid the $300,000 fine, the IRS announced on February 3, 1999, that it found NO IMPROPRIETIES IN THE TAX FILINGS of Gingrich and the sponsoring Progress and Freedom Foundation. The IRS said the principles taught in the course were not of use only in political campaigns. "The ... course taught principles from American civilization that could be used by each American in everyday life whether the person is a welfare recipient, the head of a large corporation, or a politician." Well isn't that nice - and isn't that what Newt had been saying all along? In other words, the ethics charges David Bonior filed against Newt were ALL bogus. Every single one of them. In the end, what was Newt's "ethics problems"? One of the papers filed by his lawyers had an error and Newt didn't catch it. That little oversight cost $300,000. Some might say "vindication is vindication" and Newt should just be tickled about this. . . but would YOU feel better if you've already lost $300,000 and your job in the process? Where are the cries about how long and how much money was spent on this investigation? Where are all the news stories about this vindication? Granted, there have been some news stories but certainly not that many. Perhaps the news isn't quite as big when it's Newt who is the one in the right and his accusers are the ones in the wrong. Now, if some people already see the irony of Newt being blasted for "lying to congress" because one of his lawyers' documents was in error while people argue that we should ignore that fact that Bill Clinton lied under oath, here's a little more irony for you. Democrats have argued over and over again that even if Clinton DID lie in his deposition in Paula Jones' sexual harassment suit, it doesn't matter because the suit was eventually thrown out of court. Thus, any lies were "not material" and so not valid grounds for punishment, and certainly not impeachment. Well, the IRS has found that there were NO IMPROPRIETIES IN THE TAX FILINGS. Using the same rationale as Clinton's supporters, shouldn't Newt Gingrich be allowed to get his $300,000 back, since any misstatements he might have made are now "not material?" David Bonior stated a couple of years ago that "Mr. Gingrich engaged in a pattern of tax fraud." Well, it now looks as if Bonior was way out in left field on all 75 of his accusations. How about a censure of David Bonior for filing 75 unfounded charges against him, so Newt can at least get his good name back? But how could I forget? We are in the age of forgiveness, where we just "forgive and forget" perjury and obstruction of justice, so I guess that means forgiving David Bonior too. Too bad people weren't as "forgiving" when it was Newt Gingrich in the hot seat. Hillary Clinton is on a role

Yeah, the polls show that the majority of Americans DO NOT want her to run for any office and that a majority of Americans would not support her run for the senate…and her unfavorable rating is growing quickly. The media is playing "rope-a-dope" with Hillary now that Weasel Boy's numerous scandals have cooled for the moment. The media is building her up so that when she does announces her candidacy (which she will not) they can spend months destroying her. Hillary will have a lot of explaining to do once she is a candidate and not just the wife of one - things like Who hired Livingstone? Why did she withhold evidence (billing records), The 1,000,000 bribe from Tyson Food via cattle futures, White Water, Castle Grande, the list goes on and on. It is all about ratings - the media knows that the Hillary as candidate scandals will sell a lot of newspapers and commercials.

She is a woman of true charactor , strength, wisdom, charm and a true vision. Sounds like more incoherent liberal rambling.

Please give an example of Hillary's character (enabling her sexual predator husband is not good character).

Please give an example of Hillary's strength - this is an easy one but there is a fine line between strength and doormat.

Please give an example of Hillary's wisdom.

Please give an example of Hillary's charm - seeing her ranting about a paranoid delusion of a vast right wing conspiracy from mars makes her about a charming as painful rectal itch in my book.

Give an example of Hillary's true vision - or any vision for that matter.

That's for pointing out the extreme hypocrisy of the Democrat Party and the liberal controlled media. The Editor dreams of the Republicans committing political suicide but I think it looks like the Democrat Party is the one that has committed political suicide. The Democrats have sold out all of their values to support a man that cheats and lies - a man that admitted to a misogynist adulterous affair with unpaid employee that was half his age (and barely above the age of consent) and the Democrats were force to flush all of their morality to prop this man up. The Democrats have neutered (or should I say spayed) the feminist movement by forcing them to support a sexual predator - in the 90's the feminist marched in the streets because one women (Anita Hill) present an unsupported claim that Clarence Thomas made a reference to a public hair on a coke can and made a reference to a porno movie yet they were silence about Clinton abusing, using, and raping numerous women. The Democrats have killed the feminist movement and it will take many, many years and new leaders before anyone will take them seriously again - like Bill Bennett said "if you are a rapist - you better become a leftist". The Democrats go into the presidential election was a scandal ridden, stiff, wooded candidate that nobody likes. The Democrats are in BIG trouble - the polls show that Americans believe the GOP is the best party for solving problems - and this is after the impeachment! It is really likely we will have a Republican President, House, and Senate after the elections of 2000. The Democrats have no issues - they have been the anti-party and now they can't find anything to be anti. Their witch-hunts of the past have been proven to be TRUE witch-hunts (Newt and the Larry Flynt Democrat Sex Police). Looks like the Democrats may be the ones that have committed political suicide. But don't abandon all hope Democrats - the Republican seem very inept at PR and they could likely do something that could make the Democrats competitive again - but I wouldn't bet on it.

I saw our next president on TV yesterday - what a breath of fresh air! They will need to give the White House a good flushing before he arrives - who is "he"? GW Bush - the man is the anti-Clinton. He is about the age of Clinton but he comes across as much wiser and more mature. He is a baby-boomer - but not a leftist baby-boomer. When they ask about his personal life he does not stutter or lie - he says none of your bloody business. He has a great sense of humor and does not come across like a used-car salesman (like many politicians such as Clinton). He is a Washington outsider and a Hollywood outsider. He excluded the national press from his announcement press conference because he wanted to support the Texas press because they have been fair to him (this cat seems to do no wrong - but he is real, not like phony Clinton). GW answers the Spanish press by speaking Spanish (he speaks it fluently - not like Clinton that can parrot a few words he heard on a Taco Bell commercial). GW Bush is such a breath of fresh air that I think he could win by a large landslide. I hope the far right wing (Quail, etc) avoid killing each other - but I think GW can easily ride above that. I see in my crystal ball - President Bush and Vice President Dole (Liz that is) - America will go bonkers over this pair which will help the Republicans keep control of the House and Senate. Damn - there is a light at the end of the tunnel that was the nineties!

Jeepers, you missed the point by a mile. Whether it is true or not is not really the point - the issue is: Clinton's irresponsible actions were impeachable because they put the nation at risk because the president could be blackmailed. Clinton admitted he lied to the American people and his cabinet to cover up his actions so he proved he would have been vulnerable to other forms of blackmail. The point is simple - he should have been impeached (which he was) AND removed for irresponsible actions that could have put this country at risk. BTW - this story has legs and is not going away. There is a quid pro quo aspect in Clinton's actions toward Israel - not to mention Monica's testimony. This story is not going away.

Are you telling me that the Mossad's hackers are smarter than our Department of Defense that invented the Internet?

Jeepers you liberals! - you hate the Department of Defense and then you think they are the geniuses of the world. Let me correct you - the Department of Defense DID NOT invent ARPANET - it was ARPA working under a CONTRACT with DOD. The World Wide Web was invented by the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN) (with no relationship with DOD). I spent a lot of years working for the Department of Energy, Nuclear Energy and Defense Programs (with connections to DOD). Do I believe the Mossad could outsmart the DOD - you bet. The DOD brought us $500.00 hammers, $1,000.00 toilet seats and an armed amphibious vehicle that sinks and explodes! Get real.

So, you are trying to weasel out of an apology. Typical.

Message: Mrs. Clinton Steers Clear Of N.Y. Political Plans

Wednesday, March 03, 1999 2:45PM

By Ellen Wulfhorst

NEW YORK, Marsh 3 (Reuters) - First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton sounded like a candidate on a much-heralded visit to New York Wednesday but did not reveal her intentions over a possible Senate campaign that has been the talk of the town.

``There were some who thought I'd have an announcement,'' Clinton said with a dramatic pause during a speech to the Democratic Party's Women's Leadership Forum. ``But I don't.''

Clinton was making her first trip to New York after weeks of feverish speculation over a possible run for a vacant U.S. Senate seat in the state next year.

In her speech, she discussed themes and policies of her husband's administration including health care, education, crime fighting and Social Security. She also talked about women's rights and the future of U.S. politics.

``And so I begin to think about the future in political terms because I've always believed that we are at our best as a nation when everybody understands their obligations as a citizen,'' Clinton said in her speech.

She said that on her travels around the world and across the United States she was ``struck time and time and time again'' by the good fortune of Americans, particularly women.

``This is a great, great time to be a woman in America,'' she said. ``We are so blessed and we should be so grateful no matter what our personal circumstances are that we live at a time in a society where we do have the opportunities that we have before us today.''

``And among the debts that we owe to those who came before are to be involved in the political process that makes the American democracy work,'' she said to loud applause.

Clinton's first stop Wednesday was a visit to a school in the city's Queens borough, where she was loudly applauded by about 500 students and adults when she delivered a 20-minute speech on the value of arts and education.

``We need all the help we can get to return the arts to its rightful place within our schools,'' said Clinton, who avoided a mob of reporters and TV crews.

However, her escort on the trip, Democratic Rep. Gary Ackerman, who represents Queens in Congress, said he discussed a possible campaign with Clinton Tuesday night and indicated she was considering a run.

``She told me she was going to consider it,'' Ackerman said. ''She indicated she had not made up her mind but clearly it is something that is occupying a great deal of her thoughts in between doing all these public events.''

The idea of her as the Democratic candidate in 2000 has captured the imagination of New Yorkers, becoming a favorite topic among everyone from newspaper pundits to taxi drivers.

The race would be particularly exciting, many say, if the Republican candidate is, as is widely expected, New York City's tough-talking Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

A new poll Wednesday showed Clinton edging Giuliani in a hypothetical Senate campaign by 49.7 percent to 45.5 percent, with a margin of error of four percentage points.

It was taken Sunday and Monday by the Poughkeepsie, New York-based Marist Institute for Public Opinion and showed Clinton's lead over Giuliani had narrowed since a February poll when she led by 49 percent to 38.1 percent.

The Senate seat is now held by Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who is retiring. Mrs. Clinton, who has been consulting with various influential political figures as she makes her decision, met with Moynihan last month.

Giuliani has not declared his candidacy, but he has been courting supporters, attending fund raisers and has named his chief of staff to head a national political action committee.

The Democratic fund raiser Wednesday was enormously successful even before it started. Democratic officials said not only was the guest list nearly doubled due to demand, but some 300 people were placed on a waiting list to attend.

While New York Democrats, many of whom have urged her to run, did not expect a major announcement by the first lady, her visit faced close scrutiny by those who hoped they might glean some clue as to her intentions.

Clinton planned to speak Thursday at a U.N. event to commemorate International Women's Day and then attend an event honoring women in sports before returning to Washington.

In both the book and TV interview, Ms. Lewinsky volunteers detail about intensely personal matters in her life, including acknowledging in the book that she had an abortion after becoming pregnant by another man. That occurred during the latter part of 1996, while she was still seeing Clinton in secret meetings at the White House.

In October of that year, after ending a three-month affair with a Pentagon worker, Ms. Lewinsky decided to have the abortion, the book states. Her aunt paid for it after Ms. Lewinsky and her friend ``fell out over sharing the costs,'' the book says.

This should make her a patron saint in the Democrats Party - she's a compulsive liar that committed perjury, she blew Weasel Boy in misogynist sex acts in which Clinton testified he never tried to gratify her in ANY WAY, and she had an abortion. You liberals must be creaming in your jeans.

All we ask is that for the four years (each term) he's President that he use his big head to think. Is that really asking so much of a man with thermonuclear capabilities? Also, rumor has it that O.J. is thinking about firing Greenspan. We can only assume that would be over his remarks about how huge a mistake it would be to allow the Feds to invest a quarter of the Social Security Fund in the Stock Market. Reagan and Greenspan had far more to do with this good economy than Clinton ever will. A recent poll (I'll see if I can dig it up) of Business Big Wigs put Clinton near the bottom of the list of those responsible for the Good Economy. Name: I'm disgusted with your shallow opinions;I still think Hillary Clinton's great!

Message: I've just read a couple of the forum messages above and, boy-oh-boy am I disgusted. For one thing, anyone reading "Donald Duck's" message can tell why HE (re: Donald Duck) is not President. With that kind of attitude ... let's not drop down to his level. I just think its extremely shallow of him to be criticizing other people's "looks" - he's not telling us anything except that he's shallow, and so is this society.

As for the message by "Alberto", it's great to be patriotic and love your own country, but let's not too over-zealous - you're just showing signs of the brainwashing you've been through 'cause America has never been a perfect or "very moral" place (re: taking land from the Natives, Puritans going on hunts for "witches", doing horrible things to get rid of "enemies" and trying to make Americans believe that they are always right). Don't ever forget that the land you now call America was not "yours" to begin with and that the colonizers were Europeans who liked to go all over the world, thinking that they were barbarians who thought they owned the world and tried to own the world - meanwhile, calling all other peoples "BARBARIANS".

Another thing, God did not just make America, he made the whole world and everything and everybody in it, so stop talking about God as if America owns him (just because you mention Him in your anthem). Don't kid yourself 'cause Americans are not better than any other people, and your morals were never "respected and looked up to" by the rest of the world. Do you know why some countries won't budge over to your country imposing its values on them? It's because your country has not even perfected itself and its people, so what right does it have to criticize other people? You view the world from your little hole-in-the-wall, namely your American media, so you see nothing except for the "bad" things about other countries, and the "good" things of America. Get over it! America's being so great is just the public image that it wants everyone to believe in! Wake up to reality, please!

Sorry I haven't been talking about Hillary Clinton - I still think she's a great role model for modern woman. I'd also like to tell the people that say that she's paying too much attention to being pretty ... etc. that it doesn't represent what she wants - it represents what YOU, the American people, want. You must have not watched Hillary Clinton's "A&E" biography or you'd know that she had to work on her "image" because the Americans in Arkansas could not accept a politician's wife not caring about "prettying up". It is so unfair for people like you to be criticizing Hillary Clinton, because you know nothing about her at all (not that I know a lot, but obviously more than you) - you know nothing about her accomplishments all throughout her schooling, her successful career in law, and all her other other accomplishments.

Hillary Clinton is not all about looks (which she naturally had anyway, so stop biting off her head because she's pretty) - her brains are much more important and powerful, but of course you can't see 'cause you're too busy looking at her outer appearance and criticizing her. Also, is it not hard enough for her to have to deal with her own husband's unfaithfulness that you have to continue to torture her with you nasty, shallow comments? Why do you sound as though you're blaiming her for her husband's wrongs? According to your views, Americans are supposed to have high values, so they should not have such ancient, sexist views - but apparently, you Americans are not better than others 'cause you haven't gotten over this yet. You make it sound as though Hillary does not deserve the respect of Americans, but that is wrong, because it is America that is unworthy of great people like Hillary Clinton.

Message: Let's get this straight, LVD. You are saying the the Mossad spy agency is smarter than our high tech intelligence. You are telling me that our Secret Service did not engineer a wiretap alert in Clinton's outgoing phone calls, so when he called Monica he was not aware that the Israeli's were also enjoying the heavy breathing activities?

You are telling me that our guys are so dumb as to endanger our president? If this is so fire their commander immediately.

Don't believe everything you read in the NYPost. I have not seen it in the mainstream yet.

Message: After the Monica interview I believe I figured out the next talking point from the White House. After two hours of showing what an absolutely vile human the precedent is, the white house will tell their marchers to talk about how Monica was afraid to say what she thought of Ken Starr. Never mind that she never met him or carried on a conversation with him, but that is their tact. She said at times she feels warm toward the phallic president, but that she also hates him and is sickened by him. That interview showed Monica's immaturity now after years of going through burning fire which Editor says is a plus, but imagine her maturity when the precedent "didn't have sexual relations with that woman."

Bill Clinton -v- Down Arrow - So who are you, anyway? Tell us before we find out the hard way.

Juanita -^- Up Arrow - Old: Talk and nobody will believe you.
New: Talks and nobody believes him.

AlGore -v- Down Arrow - How will you compartmentalize your boss?
When Clinton gropes, you pay!

GOPs -^- Up Arrow - Old: Impeachment fiasco a political disaster.
New: They were just trying to warn us.

It cracks me up how the media now stands there with their hands over their mouths acting like they never knew bill was like this. Their boy has been known by most of America since 1991.

We believe juANITA!

Message: Remember the famous "vast right wing conspiracy" statement by the co-conspirator hillary? That same interview was where Matt Lauer asked Ms. Clinton if a president who had an adulterous affair in the white house should be removed from office. Ms. Clinton responed, "if that can be proved, I think that is a very serious offense."

You have shown your true colors with the foul laungage that you use in this forum. It gives light to your true dark inside humanistic qualities, and yet you have the gall to throw stones at someone with low moral standards in accordance to your beliefs. I see no support to better our country nor opinions to lead us to whom you think should be elected during next presidential runnings. You continually use blaspheme on us in this room that believe in the support of thier choice of elected officials. I am glad that I sleep at night with a clear contious. I am a good person that follows my heart and if your heart is in a deffernt place, where is this place ? It seems to me that a person useing such vulgar language and hate towards humanity. No matter what you may say someone has done or hasnt done in a moral or inmoral way. I see you for who "YOU" truely are and prey that you will turn from your own sins and make judgement on your own issues at heart before you can judge anothers. I leave you all with this : Try your best and judge not another untill you understand your own heart! We are all humans and we all make errors both big and small. But to move forward you must look at your true soul and then except the world for what it is and not what you think it should be. Also I end this message to Graduate , due to the fact that she gives claim that we should go to another country ie (Cuba)if we want the things that she has dictated as our wants and needs .Well you have obviously misinterpided or needs dear and this land is for all of our needs not just yours , so please don't dictate something that you do not understand. Thank you for your time ,and lets see who can be civalized in this forum OK...........TPI135TPI

We are discusing important matters in here and most of which are pertaining to good morlas verses bad morals along with proper leadership. I ask you this , What does the song say(mean) and what has our government done to stop the erosoin within our country in the past two decades? And then ask yourself , what is Hillary Clinton Focusing on . NOTE: I did'nt put a question mark aftyer Hillary' focus , because she understands the song , and wants to make change for the better of our country. Our cities are like a cancer within the body and it is spreading without treatment, being over looked by many. If we don't stop to analize and attempt to cure this desease, it will become out of control and colaps our country at the seams...... Thanks again for your time ,TPI135TPI

Message: Hopefully this does reach Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Clinton: I could not watch the Monica interview on the tube last night. I am one American male that does not support Monica, the President, or what the two of them have done. I also do not know you or anything about your private life. However, there are no excuses for what Mr. Clinton has done to you and your daughter. Any man who loves his family would have resigned to save his family from the hurt that you have incurred.

The Monica interview and the media hype from it have really left me shocked of what Americans have become. She cheated with a married man - God will have something to say about this.

My heart really goes out to you and your daughter. What a thing for a maturing young women to have to deal with. Life at her age is hard enough when you are loved and supported. I can not believe that America in general does not get the point. This man took a vow to you and to God.

I am really sorry for you and your daughter. At least it is over and you can go on, however your daughter will deal with this for a long time. I have thought and prayed a lot over this. Take care and God be with you and Chelsea.
