The source of your confusion is that you listen to Geraldo (and all the other Left Wing Extremists) chant about "The People" and don't question what he is saying. NEW YORK TIMES EXPLOSION: ILLEGAL CHINESE CAMPAIGN MONEY WAS USED TO GET U.S. TECH

After a two-year investigation of Chinese political contributions to the 1996 election, federal authorities have unearthed new evidence that Beijing's efforts were part of a broader campaign to obtain access to American high technology, the NEW YORK TIMES is set to report in Tuesday editions, a prerelease was obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT late Monday afternoon.

TIMES hotshots Jeff Gerth, David Johnston and Don Van Natta blow hard in a planned Page One Exclusive that will jolt Washington on the eve of the historic impeachment vote: "Investigators and officials said their new view of China's motivations was based on inference and evidence that includes bank records, intercepted telephone calls and statements by witnesses."

"Gerth is completely unloading," one publishing source tells the DRUDGE REPORT. "Huang, Trie, Liu."

One of most intriguing new pieces of evidence the TIMES is set to report on involves Charlie Trie, who served on a presidential commission on Asian trade policy.

"Trie is said to have met in Beijing with Chinese contacts and asked for $1 million that could be used for political activities in the United States."

There is also new information about John Huang, a former Commerce Department official who became a leading fundraiser for the Democratic Party.

"Huang worked as a banker in Los Angeles before joining the Clinton Administration. Huang was overheard by government surveillance discussing political donations with a Chinese official at the Los Angeles consulate. Details of his conversation could not be learned. Huang subsequently joined the Commerce Department as a mid-level trade official. [There] Huang obtained at least one secret government report on exports of military-related technology to China, which he kept in his office safe."

My son who has A.D.H.D was put in the California Youth Authorities on a receiving stolen property crime and although I know he has to be punished I feel that the program there is not best suited for my son. COMMENTARY: We understand what Congress, The Committee for Impeachment, and the Senate are trying to do. It is important for the United States to clean up its ethics, values, integrity, honesty and morals., but we can not and should not use Impeachment as a means to punish, as in this case, but only as a removal of a President from office as in the case of Watergate.

There are better and more effective ways to deal with this type of situation, by making defined laws that will cover and protect the country, individuals who work for the offices/elected officials that protect individuals, elected officials, and prevent our country from being shamed, made to appear weak, or throw our country into economic devastation or political suicides, and partisan acts of a majority party.

Such actions are truly unjustified when there are courts to deal with this. And court action that originated there and laws that could have been made and still can be, to rectify future problems such as this.

To start at the top where it seems to the American public to be more apparent is noteworthy, but we must not have double standards and we must make these changes also throughout other areas in politics, senate, representatives, businesses, individuals and with attorneys/law firms. What we have noticed is that our elected officials are more upset because the President has not come forward to admit to the charge by using such words as lying.

This in itself should be reconsidered, because the President has admitted to wrongdoing and has accepted the responsibility for his actions. We must understand that this IS How We Set Up our Country and the loopholes that WE gave to attorneys/law firms and the legal system. We never prevented it and always allowed it. We can not today now claim because the President or his attorneys used the loopholes, wording, tactics etc. to protect him that now it is immoral, illegal, not honest,and a crime.

There can not be double standards; one against this president, and another for the country. This would be a good chance for our elected officials of all parties, in all offices, to make these changes in our laws of what is acceptable, moral, ethical, honest and with integrity that attorneys/law firms and the legal system can use. This is a form of tactic that has been used by all attorneys, law firms and the judicial system for a long time. If our elected officials which use the President as this example removing him from office, then they need to also rid those in all elected official offices or appointments who have lack of morals, values, ethics, and honesty.

All are not evident but that does not mean they do not exist or that it has not happened. We view this as an example of a time that the elected officials can use as a means of making changes in the laws, what attorneys can do, how they can do it, ethics, morals and values all involved. a ...more

Message: Thanks for the welcome. I've gone through a period of disgust with both political parties.

Did anyone see any of Congressman Shay's public meeting in Connecticut on C-Span? I think it's the best thing that's been televised about our current predicament. No analysts, talking heads, media personalities, and only one Washington politician. Instead, it featured a mix of citizens, much like the rest of us, speaking their minds, pro and con, about impeachment.

Although the arguments made by both sides echoed all the phrases we've heard before, the proceedings highlighted the divisiveness that exists in our country today. No one stood up and proclaimed that another speaker had changed their mind, and everyone who stated their position did so with conviction. On many occasions, a speaker's point of view was met with a mix of catcalls and applause.

Whenever a President we didn't vote for is elected to office, we tend to resign ourselves to swallow hard and prepare to endure the next four years. The segment of the population that cast their vote for a different candidate isn't pleased with the result, but doesn't question the winner's right to hold office.

The events of this year have brought us to a point, however, where at least a third of the people are convinced, and will remain convinced, that this President is unfit to lead. They don't question his authority, they actively denounce it. If impeachment fails and he remains in office, his subsequent actions won't be disagreed with by one in three people - they will be publicly and viciously ridiculed and condemned before the world. Supporters of the President may believe that this will be no different than it has been in the past, but such an assumption underestimates the environment that will prevail.

Many people are concerned that a Senate trial of the President will bring about a stressful atmosphere throughout our country over the next few months, but it is much more likely that this same atmosphere will continue to reign as long as this President remains in office. Blame Ken Starr, Henry Hyde, the President, or whoever you please, but right now the best way for this country to move on is for the President to resign. Liberals will insist he was railroaded, and conservatives will find no greater comfort with the policies of Al Gore, who will have two years to establish a Presidential track record to advertise for the next election.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain completely why I think 'getting this behind us' isn't a cut-and-dry proposition, either way.

Conservative Libertarian, I was planning to post a message the morning almost identical to your last post - your message was eloquent and mine is more like a pie in the face (but I digress). You are absolutely correct and I think within a week or so (about Christmas day) - this will be the prevailing attitude in American:

My question is: have the Democrats lost all sense of perspective. The Democrats seem willing to sacrifice all to defend a single man - they seem willing to jettison all policy or political goals to defend this man. Clinton is already a zombie president - he is the working dead. Let's say the Democrats pull off a miracle and shut down the impeachment - then what do we have? About 99% of congress admits he is a proven liar and his actions have been disgusting, despicable, and dishonored the presidency. About 87% of the public (the largest majority of any poll I have seen) believe Clinton committed perjury. So, we will have for two years a joke-president that 98% of congress believe is a lair and has been dishonored and the public knows is a perjurer that can't be trusted- Clinton will be laughed at whenever he tries to do anything and he will have no ability to push legislation. The Democrats can forget everything that they may have planned legislatively because they are the minority party and they will have spend all their legislative capital on defending the man - Bill Clinton. The nation is more divided now than it has been in my lifetime and maybe since the Civil War and if Clinton clings to the office it will not go away (and only get worse).

If Clinton resigns - Gore carries on Clinton plans and he gets a fresh start. Because of the Clinton horrors of this year, Gore will get long honeymoon with the press - Gore will get a chance to look VERY presidential (If Clinton finishes his term - Gore will be tarred with the Clinton legacy brush and would have a very hard time getting elected) - The sigh of relief would likely generate a large bipartisan feeling that would benefit both sides - and more importantly, we can spend the next 2 years focused on policy and not Clinton divisiveness.

It is like the Democrats are nothing but the Clinton party - have you all abandoned you principals and are willing to give up all your political plans and aspirations just to prop up Bill Clinton? If Clinton stays in power the Democrat agenda is in the toilet. If Clinton resigns, Gore will be very hard to beat in 2000 (because of the relief factor and the long press honeymoon he will get) and the Republicans will be very much in "let's work together" mode. Do any of you Liberal/Democrats find the timing of the air strikes on Iraq a bit, well, suspicious. Of course, the argument can (and will) be made that this has been building for months. I would suggest that Slick Willie actually, purposely aggravated the Iraq situation (by giving "So-Damn-Insane" a free pass for the last several months) in order to have exactly this option should he need it. In addition to his many advisors, there are leaders from around the world who are included in decisions of this nature. Listen to the news and see what Tony Blair, Britian's PM, had to say about how "there was no other choice.." There are no dogs wagging here. My regrets to Mrs Clinton for her discomfort in these trying times. Actions are being initiated that are frightening in the best of times, much worse in times of public scrutiny and discord.
