Editor tells me that you think Editor and I are the same person. I suppose I should be flattered because Editor is one of the best thinkers and writers that I know. We don't always see eye-to-eye, but in the main, I agree with Editor's point of view.

Maybe you will tell me, all you RIGHT WINGERS, in all honesty, why you hate the Clintons? This hate started even before they took office and has become sort of a national pasttime, even before Monica. We don't want to believe in the VRWC, and maybe it is all the trick of the media, but there have been endless investigations since they got to Washington, none of which have stuck to the Clintons, except this entrapment by Ken Starr into lying about sex, a very private matter!

It seems the tone of this presidency is set by Clinton's attackers, and it is very lowbrow, you know. I think most of the American people are pretty fed up with this type of partisan politics and endless attacks and scandals. It will only hurt the next Republican president, if there ever is another one.

The assumption seemed to be that the Clintons were guilty of SOMETHING rather than that they were country bumpkins foisted on ever-so-sophisticated Washington D.C. insiders, and made every mistake in the book in their ignorance and arrogance. You both have listed similar incidents as reasons why you hate Bill. I have lots and lots of friends who did not like the Vietnam War, dodged the draft (even my brother did that) or were conscientious objectors. Do you hate that large part of the American public?

As for Russia, any American can travel to most of the countries in the world freely. Many Americans were protesting an evil war...do you hate all of them too? Russia was our political enemy for many years but is now a shattered giant, so who cares? I don't see treason in having an opinion about a bad war. Our system of government allows us to criticize our government; it's called the first amendment. No reason to hate there that I can see. Disagree with what was expressed, but not to hate the expresser.

As for Travelgate, why shouldn't the Clintons put their own people in place to serve their needs in the Whitehouse? Every other president has had the freedom to replace people with their own. The Hillary Cattle futures deal is an amazing bit of criminal behavior. Hillary – who never has invested money in the futures market decides to put 1,000 dollars in cattle futures. Now if you understand anything about the futures market you would know that NO individual invests directly in the futures market because it is so complex and to make any money you have to be able to keep your investment moving. So, Hillary wants us to believe that she starts reading the Wall Street Journal and decides “I can do that” - she doesn’t start out in the stock or bond market – no –she goes directly to the cattle futures market. Does she move her money around – no way. She plops it down one place – waits nearly a year and BADA BING she has 100,000 dollar. Most future traders say this is very close to statically impossible. When this story first broke reporters could not find a SINGLE futures broker that had similar success. If that was not bad enough – you would think with that kind of success she would take a 1,000 from her “winnings” and try it again but NO WAY – Hillary took her money and ran never to invest in the futures market again. If you believe that could happen I have a bridge I would like to sell you. What really happened – well there was a company (Tyson’s Foods) that was one of the worst polluters in the country – Tyson’s Food wanted to dump even more pollution (mostly chicken waste) into Arkansas’ rivers so they bribed the governor – now bribery is against the law so they had to hide it –enter a shady broker (guess what, Hillary and Tyson’s Food used the same broker – amazing coincidence). This scheme is used often – Hillary was not the first. Message: I would like to throw in my two cents in answer to your question. If you want to call me a right winger, then so be it. In general, I don't agree with the Democratic Party platform because they are into the redistribution of wealth and restriction of freedom. Look at the welfare system. I think today's welfare system is cruel. I do believe in a safety net, but not entire generations living on welfare. These people don't know how it feels to earn a paycheck and the pride that goes with that accomplishment. Look at our educational system. Liberals run it and it is in very sad shape. I think affirmative action is cruel, it sends the message "You aren't good enough and you need big government to save you." But the Republicans are guilty also. Why do we need campaign finance reform? Because politicians have too much influence and that is what you are buying with your large donation. As to why I dislike the Clintons, I think Zippy's message above is a good summary. The Clintons want to ruin my life and they are crooks to boot. The Clintons want bigger government, more taxes, more regulation, more intrusions and more control over all aspects of our lives. There are many examples, but the worst is their education reform. There will no longer be a High School Diploma, but a Certificate of Accomplishment. You have accomplished the career skills chosen for you by the government, and if you don't have one, you can't work and if a company hires you, they get fined. This is not progress. This is total control. Call me what you want, but my solution is lower taxes and regulation leads to more employment, more charity and more improvements. ARTICLE I

Contrary to that oath, William Jefferson Clinton willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury concerning: (1) the nature and details of his relationship with a subordinate government employee; (2) prior perjurious, false and misleading testimony he gave in a Federal civil rights action brought against him; (3) prior false and misleading statements he allowed his attorney to make to a Federal judge in that civil rights action; and (4) his corrupt efforts to influence the testimony of witnesses and to impede the discovery of evidence in that civil rights action.

In doing this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, William Jefferson Clinton, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

In his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has willfully corrupted and manipulated the judicial process of the United States for his personal gain and exoneration, impeding the administration of justice, in that:

(1) On December 23, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton, in sworn answers to written questions asked as part of a Federal civil rights action brought against him, willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony in response to questions deemed relevant by a Federal judge concerning conduct and proposed conduct with subordinate employees.

(2) On January 17, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton swore under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in a deposition given as part of a Federal civil rights action brought against him. Contrary to that oath, William Jefferson Clinton willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony in response to questions deemed relevant by a Federal judge concerning the nature and details of his relationship with a subordinate government employee and his corrupt efforts to influence the testimony of that employee.

In all of this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, William Jefferson Clinton, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

ARTICLE III

In his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally, and through his subordinates and agents, in a course of conduct or scheme designed to delay, impede, cover up, and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony related to a Federal civil rights action brought against him in a duly instituted judicial proceeding.

The means used to implement this course of conduct or scheme included one or more of the following acts:

(1) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to execute a sworn affidavit in that proceeding that he knew to be perjurious, false and misleading.

(2) On or about December 17, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly encouraged a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him to give perjurious, false and misleading testimony if and when called to testify personally in that proceeding.

(3) On or about December 28, 1997, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly engaged in, encouraged, or supported a scheme to conceal evidence that had been subpoenaed in a Federal civil rights action brought against him.

(4) Beginning on or about December 7, 1997, and continuing through and including January 14, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton intensified and succeeded in an effort to secure job assistance to a witness in a Federal civil rights action brought against him in order to corruptly prevent the truthful testimony of that witness in that proceeding at a time when the truthful testimony of that witness would have been harmful to him.

(5) On January 17, 1998, at his deposition in a Federal civil rights action brought against him, William Jefferson Clinton corruptly allowed his attorney to make false and misleading statements to a Federal judge characterizing an affidavit, in order to prevent questioning deemed relevant by the judge. Such false and misleading statements were subsequently acknowledged by his attorney in a communication to that judge.

(6) On or about January 18 and January 20-21, 1998,William Jefferson Clinton related a false and misleading account of events relevant to a Federal civil rights action brought against him to a potential witness in that proceeding, in order to corruptly influence the testimony of that witness.

(7) On or about January 21, 23 and 26, 1998, William Jefferson Clinton made false and misleading statements to potential witnesses in a Federal grand jury proceeding in order to corruptly influence the testimony of those witnesses. The false and misleading statements made by William Jefferson Clinton were repeated by the witnesses to the grand jury, causing the grand jury to receive false and misleading information.

In all of this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, William Jefferson Clinton, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

ARTICLE IV

Using the powers and influence of the office of President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in disregard of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has repeatedly engaged in conduct that resulted in misuse and abuse of his high office, impaired the due and proper administration of justice and the conduct of lawful inquiries, and contravened the laws governing the integrity of the judicial and legislative branches and the truth-seeking purpose of coordinate investigative proceedings.

This misuse and abuse of office has included one or more of the following:

(1) As President, using the attributes of office, William Jefferson Clinton willfully made false and misleading public statements for the purpose of deceiving the people of the United States in order to continue concealing his misconduct and to escape accountability for such misconduct.

(2) As President, using the attributes of office, William Jefferson Clinton willfully made false and misleading statements to members of his cabinet, and White House aides, so that these Federal employees would repeat such false and misleading statements publicly, thereby utilizing public resources for the purpose of deceiving the people of the United States, in order to continue concealing his misconduct and to escape accountability for such misconduct. The false and misleading statements made by William Jefferson Clinton to members of his cabinet and White House aides were repeated by those members and aides, causing the people of the United States to receive false and misleading information from high government officials.

(3) As President, using the Office of White House Counsel, William Jefferson Clinton frivolously and corruptly asserted executive privilege, which is intended to protect from disclosure communications regarding the constitutional functions of the Executive, and which may be exercised only by the President, with respect to communications other than those regarding the constitutional functions of the Executive, for the purpose of delaying and obstructing a Federal criminal investigation and the proceedings of a Federal grand jury.

(4) As President, William Jefferson Clinton refused and failed to respond to certain written requests for admission and willfully made perjurious, false and misleading sworn statements in response to certain written requests for admission propounded to him as part of the impeachment inquiry authorized by the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States. William Jefferson Clinton, in refusing and failing to respond and in making perjurious, false and misleading statements, assumed to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the sole power of impeachment vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives and exhibited contempt for the inquiry.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican chief impeachment counsel David Schippers alleged Thursday he had found additional evidence that President Clinton obstructed justice and abused his power, but said he would not make it public at this time.

Draft of the presidents speech tomorrow:

I am leaving tomorrow on a very important trip, carrying with me the steadfast commitment of the U.S. to helping the Israelis and Palestinians bring peace to their region.

But before I leave, I want to take a moment to comment on the impeachment proceedings before the Congress and the Committee hearings that have gone on this week.

The American people should know that I am committed to devoting all of my energy and all of my ability to doing the job they elected me to do. But no one should conclude from my focus on my public obligations that I am not struggling with the consequences of my personal wrongdoing.

My conduct was terribly wrong. Not a day goes by that I do not think about my failures of character and spirit. Not a day goes by that I do not feel profoundly sorry for what I did and what I said. And I understand today how reasonable people could read from my testimony in the Jones case and conclude I crossed the line. I tried not to, but that is no excuse.

The pain and shame I have brought to my family; the spectacle being played out before the Congress and the country; the effect all this has had on the decency, dignity and civility of our public discourse and our politics — the burden of the consequences of my conduct is something I will always bear.

I expect to be held accountable for my conduct. I am living through the painful, private consequences of my actions. But I know there should be public consequences as well. I am ready to accept those consequences.

But you should know that I am determined, with every fiber of my being, to use every moment I am privileged to occupy this high office to make better the lives of the American people; to regain their trust, and to leave our children and grandchildren a nation that is better and stronger and richer and freer.

You know, I read that whole thing twice (painful as it was) and couldn't find the word "lie" anywhere in there. This guy still doesn't get it. Dealing a blow to the White House, a Democratic congressman who first called for Clinton to resign, then spearheaded a censure movement, now may vote for impeachment. Rep. Paul McHale said if censure is not an option, he will vote in favor of articles of impeachment -- unless the president admits giving false information under oath, a spokesman for McHale told CNN Friday.

Today we are witnessing not History, but rather just how far the NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY will carry the banner of the American Morality and Justice. To topple the Presidency is not their quest...there quest is to bring Fire and Brimstone back to America. To clearly demonstrate that any and I repeat any action that does not conform to these fanatics of the Right Wing Republican Party will not be tolerated. And I firmly believe that even if the total of your actions are a major benefit to the People of the United States, but do not conform to the will of the NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY that person, whether President or Welfare Receipent will face condemnation in the fashion of a 20th Century "American Iquisition." The new order has a new god and although it is fashioned of gold, it is green as the dollar that it feeds on. And the new order is the posion that is destroying the fabric of the Democratic Party, too. But not as obviouly as these New Republicans. Who or Whom or What is next? The House Judiciary Committee, dominated by conservative hard-liners, insist on pressing forward with a process guaranteed to do nothing but infuriate the voters and divert the republic from more important matters. It is rare to see a group of veteran politicians behave in a manner that violates every standard of political sense (not to mention common sense.)

If ruining Clinton's opportunity for a great historic leagacy were the goal, House Republicans could have declared victory long ago.

If punishing Clinton for lying under oath were the point of this exercise, the House GOP leadership would be round up votes for censure, a deal that would get not only moderate Republicans on board but also many moderate Democrate as well.
So what is going on here? Is there some matter of great constitutional importance at stage, as Representative Bob Barr, the Clintonphobe from Georgia, insists? Of course not.

What we are looking at here is a group of conservative Republicans in meltdown. DeLay, Barr and the rest of the firebrand Clinton-haters simply cannot get over the fact that the Lewinsky scandal will not drive Clinton from office. They've wanted to get rid of Clinton since he was first elected, and they can't give it up. They will pursue Clinton even if their effort damages the GOP.

This is a strange phenomenon, more difficult to understand than the GOP's self-destructive alliance with the religious right.
The hard-liners in the GOP are held hostage to their demons the same way Clinton is held hostage to his. They know this exercise is self-destructive, but they cannot help themselves. They cannot stop. Something about Bill Clinton makes them do stupid things.

History would be merciful if it pays this perion in American Politics little attention. And why should it do otherwise? Clinton's misdeeds are not high crimes and misdemeanors, but rather low crimes and petty mendacity. He is no Richard Nixon.

But Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde and his colleagues ought to remember this: When history does take a look, it will paint no better picture of them than it does of Clinton.

Many Democrats have suggested that the President is open to criminal prosecution after he leaves office. If so, that prosecution will almost certainly lead to a Felony Conviction. A Felony Conviction disqualifies a person for running for President. Does this not mean that Bill Clinton is already ineligible for the seat he holds?
