I do not understand the censorship policy of this forum. Let me say this first – I am very much against censorship and I believe it is very un-liberal-like to practice censorship. Anyway, I made a post where I tried to make peace with Witch Hazel and lighten up the rhetoric – I closed by saying that maybe I should switch parties. For some reason, the message was deleted – after someone had already responded to it (making reference to it). Talk about confusing. What’s the point? I can understand that you would delete/alter my JavaScript – I expected that. But why delete my messages – especially ones in which I was trying to make peace?
The political environment during the Clinton years has been very intense and divisive. While I personally believe that Clinton is by far the worst president in my lifetime – six years of tension, spinning, and gnashing of teeth is getting old. I am diametrically opposed to the liberal political philosophy (I believe that everyone has the right to pursue happiness, they are not guaranteed happiness and I believe the individual and the community is better equipped to meet the needs of the people rather than the big bloated federal bureaucracy). But let me make one point perfectly clear – we are on the same team! It is a shame that this generation is so disconnected from WWII and Cold War years because we forget the fact it is us against them – be you liberal or conservative. Don’t fool yourself into believing that we no longer have enemies – much of the world looks at us with envious eyes (political and economical enemies). Let us not kill ourselves from within. Fight the good fight but don’t turn the country into a burned-out shell. We are all Americans.
The above statement shows my USA-centric thinking, heck, everybody that lives in North, Central, and South American are Americans. We are all United States of America-ers!

Why do you assume that we deliberately erased your message
and the one that responded to you? What happened was that some jerk tried to write an
invalid java script immediately after the respondent's message and
jammed our service. When we removed the java script we accidentally also removed the
above two messages preceding the javascript. We are not paid for our work and do this
part-time in between a very heavy and demanding job. Sometimes we have to do the editing
between clients and phone calls and can make mistakes. We are human. We have day jobs and
must sneak this forum in as fast as possible.
We have an absolute right to have a working forum and an absolute right
to remove the offending java script which jammed the submit box. In the process of removing the java script we accidentally
also removed the response to your message and your message. Incidentally we thought it was
a GREAT response, so please

Maybe this bird has more than two wings – as a conservative I have no idea what you are talking about in the above statement. I am not for forcing teenage girls to have babies but I am against the abortion mills that make doctors rich while filling the dumpsters with human babies. I am against abortion because I am against killing – all killing. That is ludicrous. We are a country of laws and not of men. Were you making this same argument in the summer of 1974? (I was 14 and didn’t really care that much). Nixon won by a TRUE landslide getting 70-some percent of the popular vote – Clinton NEVER received 50% of the popular vote and in both elections more American DID NOT vote for him then those that did (last election less than 25% of eligible voters voted for Clinton). But that is not the point. We are a country of laws – Clinton broke that laws - After all the jacks are in their boxes and the clowns have all gone to bed it all comes down to one question: Can the President get away with breaking the law? BTW – I love San Francisco and I visit there about once a year. I dream of living in Marion Co (like Mill Valley). If I had the nerve I would pack up and move there….I currently live about 37 miles north of the infamous “Beltway” in the beautiful hill country of Maryland (in historic Frederick) – I have a nice view of the mountains from my house…it is a nice place to live. But, currently I left a piece of my heart in San Francisco – I should write a song. The point – once you get to know somebody from the other side it becomes hard to sling insults. Many on the forum speak of the censorship/editing and I can understand why you would delete some messages – I just didn’t understand why that particular message was deleted. There have been some other more heated messages about censure – I was really only asking why. Marin County is all that dreams are made of and much, much more. In 1980 I came here on my last tank of gasoline and $10. I knew nobody. I slept in my truck for seven months because the rents were so incredibly high, but I am still here in Sausalito, a sister city to Mill Valley. Message: I understand that there are 40 million people that will starve to death in Northern Russion this winter. They're discussing a mass transportation to the south - impossible. That's like moving the whole West Coast to the East Coast. WASHINGTON — Vice President Al Gore Wednesday denounced a Republican ad campaign focusing on President Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky as an act of desperation.
"This is all a partisan smokescreen designed to help the Republicans try to increase their power in the next Congress with the elections Nov. 3 so that they can then stop all the progress that Americans want to see,'' Gore said.
The $10 million ad campaign, airing just days before Tuesday's mid-term elections, features three separate ads focusing on Clinton's denials about the Lewinsky affair.

Talk-show host sued over $10,000 offer
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A lawyer filed a civil suit against Geraldo Rivera on Tuesday, claiming $10,000 that he said the talk show host promised anyone who could show a criminal prosecution had been brought for lying about sex.
Attorney Marc Bogatin said he filed the lawsuit after Rivera made the offer on his nightly ``Rivera Live'' on CNBC last month.
The offer was made during a lively on-air discussion about the investigation into the conduct of President Clinton and former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, the lawyer said.
Bogatin said he did research in a law library, where he found five cases in which people had been criminally prosecuted for lies about sex.
The lawyer said he contacted Rivera on October 6 about the cases he found. So far, he said, he had received no response from the talk show host despite sending repeated letters and making telephone calls.
A spokesman said Rivera had been referring to federal prosecution for lying about sex and said a few people had come forward with cases.
``We are looking into this claim as we are with the others,'' said the spokesman, John Brine.
``To date, no one has collected any money,'' Brine said. ''The spirit of the challenge has always been to inspire debate and discussion on the show.''
Also named in the suit, which claims breach of contract and fraud, is CNBC Inc.
Neither Rivera nor the show has been formally served with the lawsuit, and Brine said he could not comment further.
Rivera was trained as a lawyer. He passed the state bar exam in New York in 1969 after attending Brooklyn College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

There is an imposter among us! I've found that a careful combination of the two works best. The only trick is choosing
a good combination. For instance, speed does not work well with a wimpy little
.22 automatic (you need a really loud "bang" when you're doing speed) and large,
complicated rifles are not good when doing central nervous system depressants
(too many damn controls to adjust and keep track of). The best combination I've
found to date is a big Philly Blunt and a Glock 9mm (the old high capacity ones
before the Feds screwed us up with that 10 shot limit thing). The Glock is a "point
and shoot" pistol so it's simple but when you have a good buzz on and the dark
shades thing happening and the pistol turned sideways (gangsta style) you really make
a lasting impression on the survivors (if any).

resident Clinton fired the ambassador to Eritrea last year for sexual misconduct with two U.S. Embassy employees, according to a confidential report obtained by The Washington Times.
At a time when Mr. Clinton was involved in an "inappropriate" sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky and had been accused by two other women of making crude sexual advances, he recalled Ambassador John F. Hicks.
The reasons for Mr. Hicks' recall from his post in Asmara, Eritrea --located on the Red Sea between Sudan and Ethiopia -- have not previously been made public.
The firing followed complaints to the State Department from two embassy secretaries that he --
repeatedly groped, kissed, fondled, touched and called them at their homes despite numerous requests that he leave them alone.
Mr. Hicks, a Clinton appointee, reportedly told one of his accusers, who is white, that she rejected him because he was black.
State Department spokeswoman Linda Topping Thursday declined comment, citing federal privacy concerns.
White House spokesman James Kennedy also declined comment on Mr. Hicks' recall. He had been named by Mr. Clinton to the ambassadorship in May 1996.
Mr. Hicks, a native of Goldsboro, N.C., was a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, having served 22 years with the U.S. Agency for International Development. The Silver Spring, Md., resident did not return calls left on a telephone-answering machine at his home.
The report by the State Department's Office of Inspector General, a copy of which was obtained late Wednesday by The Times, said a lengthy probe, which included interviews of embassy officials in Washington and Asmara, confirmed the accusations and concluded Mr. Hicks' conduct "violated standards for continued employment ... in that [he] clearly showed poor judgment and lack of discretion."
The 26-page inspector general's report, marked "personnel sensitive," said accusations against Mr. Hicks were referred in May 1997 by the State Department to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland for criminal prosecution under federal sexual-abuse statutes. Two months later, the U.S. Attorney's Office opted to decline prosecution "in favor of administrative action" by the State Department, the report said.
During an interview with the Inspector General's Office, Mr. Hicks admitted he tried to kiss one of the secretaries, but only to show his affection. He denied any other improprieties and told investigators his relationship with the second woman was "strictly professional."
He said calls he made to the second woman at her home were "of a social nature" and denied ever improperly touching her.
In the course of the interview, the report said, Mr. Hicks blamed subordinates for the investigation, saying they had persuaded the women to "fabricate stories against him as part of a concerted effort to undermine his leadership and ruin his career."
The report dismissed Mr. Hicks' claim that one of the women rejected him because of his race. "She told him race had nothing to do with it; she did not want a relationship with him because she loved her husband," the report said.
Investigators concluded the accusations were valid and Mr. Hicks had created "an intimidating, hostile and offensive work environment which had the effect of unreasonably interfering with both of these women's work performance."
"Ambassador Hicks' behavior was both severe and pervasive in creating a hostile work environment for these women. It was unwelcomed, repeated, unsolicited and clearly of a sexual nature," the report said.
Mr. Hicks' recall came at a time that Mr. Clinton was having sexual relations in the Oval Office complex with Miss Lewinsky, then a 22-year-old White House intern. He also faced sexual misconduct charges in a suit filed by former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones and accusations by former White House volunteer Kathleen E. Willey, who said he made a crude sexual advance on her in the Oval Office.
Mr. Clinton has acknowledged having an inappropriate relationship with Miss Lewinsky, but has denied accusations by Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Willey.
The inspector general's report said Mr. Hicks' sexual misconduct began in January 1997 and continued through April 1997 and that the two secretaries were reluctant to report it because of his position.
Both women were interviewed by investigators over several hours during two-day periods and signed sworn affidavits saying Mr. Hicks had made unwanted sexual advances. Investigators described their testimony as "compelling and consistent" and said their information had been corroborated by interviews with other embassy officials and documents obtained in the investigation, including numerous telephone records.

As for your conclusion - I think you are right on. Compromise and middle/shared ground is our only hope - the left will never vanquish the right and the right will never vanquish the left. Hateful rhetoric spews equally from both sides – because hate does not come for a party, it comes from the hearts of men. Surprise – THAT WAS MY POINT. This is a leftward leaning page (understatement) and it is home to a lot of nasty statements about conservatives (whom I am one – is the proper grammar?). I was trying to point out that fecal matter can be spewed equally well at either side. We should not fear political debate and disagreement because the what our country was founded on – what we should fear is the political machine that whips the PR and spin up to frenzy levels and pits Americans against Americans just to sell their product – the election of a candidate. I have been trying to make the point that we are all on the same team. All the good we have in this country came in part by BOTH parties and all the bad we have also came from both parties. Democrats rally in poll swing
DEMOCRATS are gaining over Republicans among the likely voters in next Tuesday's congressional elections, according to a poll yesterday. The results were announced as both parties unleashed a blitz of duelling television commercials over President Clinton's sex scandal.
The poll, by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, found that 46 per cent of those most likely to vote plan to support Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives while 43 per cent back Republicans. That reverses a four-point lead for Republicans a month ago.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30 — Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, whose tactics have been questioned throughout his investigation of President Clinton, is being investigated for 24 instances of alleged grand jury leaks, according to court documents. Federal Judge Norma Holloway Johnson ordered the investigation in September but did not make public the grounds for the probe until Friday.
