Message: TOLERANCE: We need to instill tolerance in the next generation. This should start in public schools in the first grade. The Federal Govt. should mandate tolerance and diversity training for all students, regardless of intolerant right-wing parents objections. Those right-wing fanatics and their "Leave it to Beaver" type family fantasies have got to go. These right-wing dogma priorities are bad for a heterogeneous society like ours. Different strokes for different folks so get used to it. At least Hillary and Bill are good examples of diversity and tolerance.
HEALTHCARE: We all know we can't trust the marketplace to provide health care. The govt. should be in the business of providing healthcare for all. Again, Hillary is right on when it comes to the control and deployment of health care in this country.
CAMPAIGN REFORM: Again, we need the govt. to control the campaign process. We can't have wealthy, oppressive right-wingers like Steve Forbes and George W. BUYING elections. We need the govt. to keep people honest in campaigns and let people like Hillary have the same advantages as the wealthy. Hillary has to fight off the Vast Right Wing conspiracy in addition to being first lady and campaigning. This just isn't fair that the intolerant right-wing hatemongers can accuse her of all sorts of evil things when they are the ones who are evil and intolerant of others.
POPULATION CONTROL: Here again we need govt. help because the homophobes that is the Republican party is bent on overpopulating Mother Earth. We NEED Planned Parenthood leading health classes in every public school and every child should be warned about the dangers of heterosexism. Alternatives to heterosexism should be encouraged and abortion kept legal. Hillary is our girl. Go Girl!

FOR NOW there is a balance of power — or a consensus for inaction — in the House. Suburban Republicans from California and the Northeast join with most Democrats to support more stringent gun regulation. But they are offset by rural and Dixie Democrats who oppose gun-control measures. Looking beyond the legislative stalemate, Democratic strategists see the gun issue as perhaps their best tool for taking back the control of the House, which they lost in 1995. They will run television ads blaming the Republican majority in Congress for inaction on measures to require background checks on purchasers at gun shows. MORE...

Hey,David...you speak of Vince Foster conspiracy theorists being a little crazy. Well, pal, let's cover a few facts about Ole Vince and how he was connected to Die Schlickfrau and America's first Trailer Park President, both while alive and after his death.
Fact:Vince Foster is known to have been working on Travelgate and Whitewatergate for the Felonious Couple during the last few months of his life.
Fact:Vince Foster somehow felt the need to consult a lawyer some time in late June or early July 1993.
Fact:Foster blew his brains out in July 1993,just a week or so after having consulted said lawyer.
Fact:in the summer of 1995,a Secret Service officer assigned to Motel 1600 tesitified (UNDER OATH!) that he saw Die Schlickfrau's Chief of Staff,Maggie Williams, leave Foster's office a few hours after his death was discovered carrying an armful of papers.
Fact:Another of Die Schlickfrau's good buddies,Bernie Nussbaum, denied the FBI access to Foster's office for several days after his death. This was considered to be so unusual and suspicious that Deputy Attorney General Phillip Heymann felt the need to angrily ask Nussbaum "Bernie, are you hiding something?".As a side note, Mr Heymann,a long time DOJ official, reseigned form the DOJ shortly after this exchange with Nussbaum!
Fact:last summer,Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr attempted,as part of his investigation,to obtain the notes of the lawyer that Mr Foster consulted just before he blew his brains out.Die Schlickfrau and America's first Trailer Park President fought tooth and nail to keep these notes away from Judge Starr. This is particularly interesting because if Foster were alive,he could have sought to force him to testify by granting him full immunity, thereby eliminating the danger of self-incrimination.
Are you at all curious,David,as to why The Felonious Couple were so anxious to keep these notes away from Judge Starr?
No,I didn't think so!,But then, being a democrat means never having to say you're sorry...or obeying the rules that apply to the "common folk"!

No, David, there is a serious and sad difference here in that Calvin Coolidge is no longer President, alive or substantially relevant to current events. This country is still very much in the grips of the Clinton Crime Machine, I believe Calvin Coolidge is just a rotted pile of bones somewhere six feet under the ground. And if Pat Robertson wants to run for President let him start his own Party and leave the Republican Party alone.
That is his choice - he is currently not running for president and when he did run in 1988 he lost big time so it is obvious the Republican didn't want him
I liked the old Republican Pary of Ike and Nixon. They were great guys but the Religious Right with all their money from Religious Groups doesn't wash.
Could you be specific - sounds like more liberal guano. What "Religious Groups" are supposed to be giving the Republican all their money - you seem to live a liberal propaganda delusion.
Freedom to worship as I please is. Don't mix Religion with politics.
That is a bit silly - the constitution specifically says the government "…will not in prohibiting the free exercise thereof…" - telling people they must become religiously neutered to get into politics in VERY unconstitutional. True believers live their lives based on their Religion (they don't just turn it off and on Sunday or religious holidays) so it would be impossible for Religion and Politics not to mix unless you live in old Russia where they outlawed religion. Sorry I do not agree with you unconstitutional statements.
Be tolerant of others. LVD are you ever tolerant of other people.
Where did you get the bonehead idea that I was not tolerant - you must not be able to read very well? I am tolerant of nearly everything that does not directly effect me or is lawful. Just because I disagree doesn't mean I am not tolerant. Intolerant is when someone calls a group of people EVIL (something I have NEVER down). Intolerance is when someone calls someone else a pig (something I have never done). If you would have be around for a while you would know I have said many times that I would love to party with Bill Clinton - he looks to be a fun guy, but just a bad president. I am tolerant of all ideas but I will challenge views or statement thats I think are faulty - this has nothing to do with tolerance. If you want to understand intolerance - read Jon Tampico messages.

Your point is well taken. I would be the first to support your position in most cases. However, before making a stand for equality, one should take into consideration the manner in which it is done, when it is done and how it is done. TIMING is everything in my book. "There is a time for war and a time for peace." Challenging another country's culture at a popular monarch's funeral would be inappropriate. On the contrary it would, in fact, have the reverse effect. Instead of making a point she would be hated. She would be held up as an example of what happens when you give women equality - in other words their message would be that women are incapable of knowing when to honor their leader and when to oppose him, because "women are just emotional creatures after all with no sense of direction or propriety."
On the other hand, Hillary being honored and given privileges no other women has ever had, opens the door, just a crack, for all women: an ancient threshold was crossed at a deeply religious funeral. It will have an impact.

Well brace yourself because I've got more chutzpah where that came from. I don't feel Hillary Clinton should feel obligated to or commit herself to residing in NY if she loses the election (assuming she will run). If the people of NY reject her, she shouldn't have to move into hostile territory and twiddle her thumbs. Losing the election does change things. Unfortunately, this whole carpetbagger issue has brought us to this pathetic pt.
Hillary may like NY and the people, but maybe political opportunities will arise elsewhere after the election. If she loses, do you expect her to forgo them because she has to prove to everyone that she loves the big apple? Silly and petty.
You know what it all reminds me of? A bunch of screaming children who want to make mommy prove she really loves them. And then there is Hillary, co-dependent, wearing the Yankees cap or whatever team it was, saying, "See how much I love you! I love you THHHISSS MUCH!!!" (Hillary, that was not a good idea. Consult me from now on, ok? Let's do lunch.)
Nonetheless, Grow Up NEW YORK!! Accept her. If not, reject and forget her

Not enough evidence to indict Die Schlickfrau,eh? That just proves two things. One:Hillary and Bernie Nussbaum learned well about how to successfully cover up a series of crimes from the time they spent as lawyers working to remove President Nixon from office in 1973-1974.Two:it proves just how useful a few days can be in destroying evidence in a criminal matter,as was the case during the several day period after Vince Foster's death in which Hillary and Nussbaum denied the FBI access to his office.

Webster Hubbell has been a close friend of the Clintons since the mid-1970s

After Clinton became president in 1993 he appointed Hubbell associate attorney general.
In 1995 Hubbell pleaded guilty to two felonies for bilking his partners at Rose and was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
On July 1st, 1999, Hubbell pleaded guilty to two charges arising from the Whitewater controversy and was quickly sentenced to one year's probation.
From the L.A. Times: "The proceeding closed a painful episode for the Clintons, particularly for First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Preparing to kick off her campaign for the U.S. Senate, she had faced the embarrassing prospect of having to testify in August at Hubbell's trial about legal work she and her former law partner did on what investigators maintain was a sham land deal."
At that time, July 1st, Starr said the matter was no closed and the Grand Jury was looking into other matter concerning Hillary Clinton.
So we wait.

OK LETS TRY TO MAKE THIS PANAMA CANAL THING EASY
Youve heard me and some listeners
making references to a takeover of the Panama Canal by the
Communist Chinese. So, whats the deal. Believe me, it gets a bit complicate.
Theres quite a cast of characters to contend with. I will
try, though, to put the basics in a clear, easy to understand
form here. First you do realize that the United
States signed a treaty with Panama in 1977, during the Carter
Administration, in which we agreed to give the Panama Canal to
Panama at the end of 1999. In 1995 there was some talk of developing a
plan for continued military presence in the Canal Zone --- but
nothing ever came of it. Well, its the end of 1999. Time to
hand it over. Now we get to the leases. Panama has granted a lease to operate the
port facilities in Balboa to a company called Hutchison Whampoa
Ltd. Balboa is the canals only port on the Pacific side. Panama has also granted a lease to
Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. to operate the port facilities at
Cristobal the primary port on the Atlantic side. Panama has also reportedly granted a right
to Hutchison Whampoa to control the anchorages on both ends of
the canal, and to hire all of the pilots who will guide ships
from one end to the other. Theres more. Insight Magazine also
reports that Hutchison Whampoa has the right to block all passage
through the canal that interferes with the companys
business. Three years ago William Hughes, the U.S.
Ambassador to Panama, strongly protested these leases. The
result? Bill Clinton tried to replace him with one of the
architects of the original giveaway and a strong supporter of
left-wing causes. Jesse Helms shot that one down. Hutchison Whampoa, by the way, is based in
Hong Kong. Its Chairman, Li Ka-shing, is a power broker
with the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Peoples
Liberation Army. Lets just cut to the chase and say that
the Chinese Communist Government exercises operational control of
Hutchison Whampoa. Oh, theres more. Theres so much
more. The President of Panama is Ernesto Perez
Balladares. He could reopen the bidding for control of Balboa and
Cristobal if he wished. He doesnt so wish. The Clinton
Administration had declined to pressure him to do so. Now ----
get this! Balladares is supposed to step down from power this
month. He doesnt want to, but he apparently doesnt
have an option. He knows he doesnt have an option because
he hired a certain political strategist last year to explore the
possibilities of staying in office. That strategist was James
Carville. Bottom line? After the U.S. turns the canal
keys over to Panama, Panama will turn the keys over to Hutchison
Whampoa. This means that the canal will be under the effective
control of the Chinese government. The Carter-Clinton legacy. Want to learn more? Fine. Heres your link.

Finally, someone with a truely down-to-earth understanding of the problems facing us and someone with an understanding of what can be done to solve these problems without bankrupting the nation financially and morally. I strongly support and second the nomination of Barbara Bush as senator (sorry for the typo) from New

The following is Mrs. Bush's statement opposing ``medical'' marijuana:
"Hello. I'm Barbara Bush. Some of the most rewarding experiences of my life have come from working with children. As parents and grandparents, George and I have learned first hand the joys and challenges of raising a family in today's world. That is why I would like to speak with you about an issue of great concern to us both. Over the past several years, there has been a dangerous trend of drug use by young people in our country. More and more are experimenting with illegal drugs and more are using drugs on a regular basis. That is why we are concerned about efforts to legalize marijuana and other illegal substances. Now is not the time to send a message to our young people that marijuana is medicine. It is not. It is a dangerous, illegal drug.''
I appreciate the former First Lady's drug crusade efforts, but disagree. I will support legalizing a drug STRICTLY FOR MEDICINAL PURPOSES. Doesn't elderly Barbara Bush have sympathy for people with arthritis, whom mary jane helps?

Dear Mrs. Bush,
I am asking for your support in our effort to make equal access to information for all adult adopted persons become a reality in this country.
Kansas has had original birth records opened to adult adoptees since 1951, without any problems! Alaska, also, has opened their records. And Tennessee has passed an open records bill which has not yet been implemented.
Several other states are in the process of drafting open records bills, including Texas.
Mrs. Bush, I am a 59 year old adopted woman in IL, and I am still denied access to my original birth records. Can you believe that? Not only am I completely in the dark about my identity, my medical history, my ethnicity and my ancestors, but my two adult children, ages 27 and 31, are also being denied all of this information
.I believe that government should not interfere in the management of adult citizens' personal lives. Why would anyone want a government agency managing such an important issue as learning one's own identity? This is a human right, and should be enjoyed by all.
You and Pres. Bush are very influential persons. I ask you both to help us in our quest for open records for all adult adopted persons. Since Texas is considering such a bill right now, I would beg you to discuss this matter with your son, Governor Bush.
Thank you so much.
Very sincerely yours,

Dawn you do not keep up with the subject - the first shops that sold medical marijuana where quickly busted as fronts for selling marijuana to the general public - mostly young people. I was out in San Francisco when the started busting this shops. Barbara was on top the issue and her comments were right on - Dawn your comment reflects strong idealism that is disconnected with reality. BTW is elderly Hillary in support of medical marijuana - I don't think so (but I am not positive).
What is this Dawn - anything to bash the other side? BTW - the "elderly" comment was a low blow and shows a prejudice toward people of age (ageism).
Medical marijuana is not a bad idea - the problem is as some as it is allow people us the loop hole as a distribution channel to the general public.

Well, for those of you keeping score - Guinevere is 5 months old and while she does watch the TV, she does not seem all that interested in what is actually on. Dylan is in the middle - he is 22 months old and he is known to do tubbies (visually speaking)- among other things. Message: Animal rights activists vow to dog Gore campaign Updated 1:02 PM ET July 27, 1999 By Alan Elsner, Political Correspondent
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As if he did not have enough troubles, Vice President Al Gore has gained a new opponent -- animal rights activists who say he is condemning millions of animals to die in cruel and unnecessary tests.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the largest animal rights group in the United States, launched a television campaign against Gore Tuesday, accusing him of sponsoring a program to test the toxicity of some 2,000 chemicals on animals.
"Approximately one million animals are to be killed in this program, which is based on sloppy science," said Jessica Sandler, a former government safety official who works for PETA.
The group already has purchased advertisements in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, as well as newspapers in Gore's home state of Tennessee and in New Hampshire, which next February will stage the first primary of the presidential campaign.
It also unveiled a television spot featuring actress Bea Arthur, ridiculing Gore for past missteps and accusing him of condemning millions of innocent creatures to death.
"He actually wants to poison and kill millions of them, just to prove things like turpentine and rat poison are dangerous. Didn't we already know that?" Arthur says in the commercial.
The group also has taken to following Gore around on the campaign trail with an activist dressed up as a six-foot tall "Gorey bunny."
Gore spokesman Chris Lehane said Gore was supporting a program devised by the Environmental Protection Agency that aimed to discover the effect that some 2,000 different chemicals had on humans, especially children.
"We just don't know how dangerous these chemicals are and we need to find out so that we can protect our citizens and our children," Lehane said.
"We respect the activists for their beliefs but we think we are acting for the greater good," he said.
The PETA campaign is the latest example of how even a relatively small group of activists devoted to a single cause can embarrass political candidates and impact campaigns.
In June Gore's formal speech announcing his presidential candidacy was marred by a small group of heckling AIDS activists who accused him of conspiring with the pharmaceutical industry to deny affordable drugs to South Africans infected with HIV.
Gore, seeking the 2000 Democratic nomination, trails George W. Bush, the front-runner for the Republican nomination, by 15-20 percentage points in polls. Gore also faces a serious challenge for the Democratic nomination from former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley.
His campaign has been dogged by a series of minor missteps, not all of them his responsibility, such as his paddling expedition last week on the Connecticut River.
It turned into an embarrassment after it was revealed that authorities had released thousands of gallons of water to ensure that the vice presidential canoe did not run aground.
In the 1996 campaign, Republican candidate Bob Dole was followed for months by "Butt Man," who appeared at his rallies dressed as a giant cigarette. "Butt Man," sponsored by the Democratic Party, was supposed to highlight Dole's alleged opposition to anti-smoking legislation. It proved a major embarrassment to Dole and kept the smoking issue in the forefront of the campaign.
PETA said many of the chemicals on the list of those to be tested had been identified as toxic for decades and did not require further animal testing.
The group also argued that animal tests cannot predict what would happen to humans exposed to the chemicals and that the tests even may enable chemical companies to manipulate the data in order to keep highly toxic materials in the marketplace.

Furthermore, I believe we had this discussion before about speaking for ALL people of any group. You apologized and said you shouldn't do it. Short memory. Also, in line with the short memory, I believe you were the one who said liberals couldn't take a joke. Seems you can't either.
Also, are you honestly that dense??!! I said slave because that was the I perceived Barbara as treating her. Does that in any way to you, in your twisted, warped mind, say that I said that I personally believe that all black women are maids or slaves because they are black? The woman was a White House Maid. I'm sorry if this pt. upsets you. If you don't think black women should have the choice to work as maids if they choose but don't deserve to be treated rudely by the white women they serve, you should discuss this with Barbara.
I honestly don't understand your mindset. You show a predilection of simply NOT GETTING IT. You still don't understand what I meant by the "coming of Vince Foster," do you? Are you slow or what?
I don't frankly care if YOU think I'm the best attack dog or not. What makes you think I or anybody else on this forum care so much about YOUR opinion? You need to watch that head of yours before it gets any bigger. You attack every one who doesn't post to your liking, and then make the utterly ridiculous statements of being of "superior intelligence."
I'm sure you have a "witty" retort...come on, let's hear the distorted spin...

Gee LVD, let's see, now how can I take this statement you made out of "jest" or "sarcasm" to get a pt across in a previous post severely OUT OF CONTEXT? Why, I know, I can just post the one sentence and then make something up about what you really meant. You do it all the time. Listen and learn.
"Dawn, when did you stop beating your wife?"
Are you making "fun" or "jesting" about domestic violence, LVD? I assume you think joking about domestic violence is a "funny statement." I guess you are pining for the good ol' days when women were property. Good ol days when the man could beat his wife with a stick no bigger than his thumb. I'm shocked at you, LVD. You better go easy on bashing me

So you think because I espouse feminist principles, I must be gay. I may likely be straight OR gay - but you just assumed - feminist=gay. You must be a misogynist and a bigot because you assume that all feminists are homosexual. I guess you were pining for the days when gay people had to live their lives in the closet and were persecuted more than today. LVD, you better go easy on bashing me because it can expose your love of hate crimes even if this was not your intention or predisposition.
Wow, that was easy. I see now why 90 percent of your posts are written so expeditiously.

Gosh, another hysterical tantrum from some lefty against LVD. Further proof that the greatest sin in Liberal la-la-land is to offend a liberal (such humility these libs' have).

A tantrum? That's an extreme characterization given I've been the victim of his stunts recently. Also, some of his postings result in the deconstruction of forum discussion as opposed to construction. We can't participate in a valid discussion of the issues if we have to defend our statements that have been severely taken out of context.
And hey, lay off the Hill! She's not frumpy. She's just a middle-aged woman and that is what happens. (OOPS. I guess now I will be accused of ageism by LVD. See if I care.) Gravity takes over. And hey, she's not even that much out of shape.
I actually still like the black suit. But I would like to see her in a navy - gray combo. Pink - been there; red - done that. But a navy-gray color scheme would still afford her some power and yet the gray could soften her up a bit. Not too feminine here, but that's not really what she needs to be wearing now. NO MORE PINK HILLARY!

Stupidity is the problem
I've discovered what might be the root cause of many of
the nation's problems. It hurts me to my heart to own up
to it; but a large percentage of Americans are either
misinformed, stupid or both.
You say, "Whoa there, Williams. This time you've gone
too far!" Let's look at it.
Fox News Opinion Dynamics conducted a survey. On
July 16, the results were reported on its website by Fox
News reporter Dana Blanton. One question asked,
"Some people say the government has plenty of money
of its own and it should be spent on programs. Other
people say that the government has no money except
that which it takes from citizens in taxes. Which do you
believe?"
Thirty-nine percent of the respondents said the
government has no money except what it takes from
citizens in taxes. Eleven percent said neither or they
weren't sure. But get this: 50 percent said the
government has plenty of money of its own.
